You may want to have the admin add a trigger alert. :) If you could find a video teaching how the SEALs calm themselves (the Marines are trying it on the infantry) that would help, too. You guys are always on my mind, by the way.
I don’t think I could do that unless I was able to beat the living sh1t out of the folks that waterboarded and tortured me. Seriously.
Faireconron 3. Tacamo.
No combat unless you can count the stress of practicing to launch the end of the world.
As an Airborne Communicator aboard a TACAMO aircraft, I was like the last guy in the world Uncle Sam wanted to get captured.
It went well beyond TACAMO. My brother was a Marine Major in VN. He had all kinds of crypto clearances. He told me he never got outside the wire. The rule was that if he left the wire, he had to have an armed helicopter escort, and "who ever heard of an armed helicopter escort for a Major."
The Aircraft Commander carried a .45 to ensure the message was sent properly.
Once we lit off the VLF transmitter, we knew we, ourselves, would be incinerated within 15mins.
It was very tough to stay calm.
I was “War Criminal Number 32” in 1980. SERE was the one school that I had as a Naval Aviator that really made me reach down deep. I’ll never forget the “Boots” playing endlessly. I tried to turn it around, and make it work for me, as in “my” boots, never ever, ever giving in to the bastards who were training us.
I’m not a crier, but I will never forget being rescued, and the American flag being raised on the flagpole of the compound. I had tears as we all spontaneously sang the National Anthem.
It was the best training I ever had in the Navy. Hands down.

I referred more to the years of physical deprivations, mental abuse and real, ongoing torture.
McCain for instance, was able to put those experiences behind him and carry on with life. I’m not so sure I could have done so.
<>Do you ever find yourself afraid for no rational reason?<>
No, I don’t suspect that what fears I have are irrational.

There is one overwhelming item that the public never sees about SERE and other Special Warfare training. You can stop and leave at any time; just go and ring the bell or tell one of the instructors that you are quitting. Thirty seconds later and it is over and you go back to what you did before.
I understand that. Still would have the feelings.
