I think what the candidates should be doing is asking why Hitlery isn’t in jail never mind running for POTUS.
This angle is fruitless and brings into question just what a smart person like Ted Cruz is trying to do here. Is he just vocalizing what he’s telling his financial backers? Can’t he do that over the phone in private?
Ted is not going to get Donald’s supporters by telling them that their frontrunner is not going to be the nominee. Further, a number of GOPe have been parroting the same line as if it’s a GOPe talking point. Ted does not need to associate himself or his campaign with the hated GOPe.
Today Rush is trying to save Baby Cruz. If Cruz need everyday protection, how he can defeat Hillary?
So Ted admits it is Donald J Trump who is bringing the new folks to the party, but he wants us to dance with him instead of Donald Trump. Well what else is he going to say? This is about as far as Ted can go while he is still running, and still needing to raise money.

Paul Ryan just showed us why we shouldn’t vote for a politician again, and a third year Senator, we have one of those in office right now and it’s not working out to well for America...
Cruz has some good ideas, but he needs to grow some more before taking over a Country that has been blown apart....
Obvious some commenters aren’t reading the excerpt (I can’t imagine actually clicking on anything by BuzzFeed Andrew).
The headline doesn’t match the excerpt.

America needs Trump as a CEO (POTUS) equally as America needs Cruz as his surrogate (VPOTUS).

I cannot think of a single blue dog democrat, union worker, liberal professional, or ethnic group that will vote for you, nor will most women, just because you’re a smart wonk
Without trump, you lose
Trump grabs people’s sense of outrage at the establishment - you are the establishment to most people
