Senate panel not checking whether Ted Cruz released classified info in debate
LA Times ^ | December 16, 2015

The leaders of the Senate Intelligence committee said late Wednesday it is not investigating whether Texas Sen. Ted Cruz disclosed classified information during Tuesday night's GOP presidential debate.

The panel released a statement a few hours after the chairman, Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), had said they were checking Cruz's comments.

Burr released a joint statement with Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, the top Democrat on the committee, stating without explanation: "The committee is not investigating anything said during last night's Republican presidential debate."

...

Burr said that any time specific numbers are discussed, a question emerges as to whether it's classified or open source.

"The question had been raised. Therefore I asked them to look at it and see if there was any validity to it," Burr told reporters.

Burr added: "It's not as clear as just reading what he said. We've got to search all sorts of media outlets to see if anyone had reported that number independently."

Asked to respond to Burr's earlier comments, a Cruz campaign spokeswoman, Catherine Frazier, passed along news reports from the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal from 2014 that contained the 20% to 30% figures Cruz used, along with congressional testimony from an NSA official suggesting the USA Freedom Act could expand the universe of calls available to the agency to search. The material, Frazier noted, is "all publicly available."

Cruz himself told reporters at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday: "What I said last night has been widely reported. It's been saturated in the public sphere. And what has been said over and over again, what the intelligence community told Congress, was that the USA Freedom Act expanded their ability to target terrorists. And listen, this is another example of the Rubio campaign trying to spread misinformation."

Rubio alluded to Cruz talking out of school. Burr went off half-cocked because he was carrying water for Rubio?

I hope Cruz continues to beat the crap out of Rubio over this. A direct assault on his character. Unlike Pubbies of old, this mess cannot go unanswered.

More campaigning on the part of the leftist whores at LA Times.

Tell me, exactly HOW much time have they spent writing, calling for an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s felonious abuses of national security regulations in mishandling secure/compartmentalized (secret, top secret) information on her illegal private non-governmental email server?

ABOVE the fold... somewhere people will have read it.

EFF YOU, LATimes.

You can stop pretending to be journalists.

What the Hell has happened to Rubio? Has he been compromised? Are those rumors of him cheating on his wife true and that’s why he became a RINO?

Hey Burr, get that burr out of your butt...here's where Cruz got his numbers, you idiot, from your very own Washington Post:

NSA is collecting less than 30 percent of U.S. call data, officials say

NSA surveillance program reaches 'into the past' to retrieve, replay phone calls

Moron.
