It wasn't supposed to go like this. When Jeb Bush announced a exploratory committee for the 2016 Republican primary exactly one year ago Wednesday, the plan was simple: Keep Mitt Romney out of the race, lock up the establishment money early and ride Bush's experience as Florida governor and a big war chest to victory. And for a little while, the plan almost worked. Bush became the front-runner, and though his lead wasn't as strong as his campaign might have liked, he seemed to have locked up the big donors and maintained a steady share in the polls. Then Donald Trump showed up, and the campaign quickly got away from Bush. In debate after debate and on the campaign trail, Bush stumbled and fumbled away his support. He came off worse in clashes with Trump and with Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.). He now sits fifth in Iowa, sixth in New Hampshire and at 4 percent nationally.
In short, Tuesday's debate was Jeb Bush's last stand. And he was unable to turn his fortunes around.

How much longer is the GOP going to doctor the numbers to keep Yeb in the debates?
until little Marco Rubio shows that he can take-down Ted Cruz ...
That is however why they gave us a constitution, so that we wouldn't have to repeat that mess all over again.
Discount it or flout it and things will get messy.
They were sure of victory
The men of the GOPe as they rolled on
When from the rear a voice was heard
That same voice with a trembling word rang out loud and clear:
What am I doin' here?
Yeb is done.
But he will hang on and throw his money at hurting Trump.
Congratulations, Mike Murphy. You've actually surpassed Karl Rove in blowing a hundred million on a campaign with nothing to show for it.
Jeb can now bow out and commiserate with Chris Christie and King Hussein of Jordan.
He is still spending tons of money for advertising of Fox news. No wonder Rupert Murdoch loves him.
Little Jebbie looked like a peevish owl that had been struck in the head with a shovel and his first reaction: a fainthearted attempt to act tough to it’s attacker whilst lying on it’s back in a daze.
Jeb paid off Fox News with $6 million in advertising to add the January debate and include Jeb no matter how bad he is polling.
To me, he’ll always look like
a bookkeeper for funeral parlor.
Just needs to re-boot his campaign. Perhaps re-decorate his campaign offices and bring out his guac bowls in patriotic colors - red, white, and green.
The GOPee still needs a body to drag across the Nomination Finish (is “finish” a racis’ term?) Line.
And just this once, I even agree with Lindsay Graham, at least for what he said at the "undercard" debate last night -- i.e. that he misses GWBush, and wishes GWBush were still president!
I'll even go a step further and say that I am one who still believes that our removal of Saddam Hussein was NOT a mistake. Yes, there were tactical mistakes in prosecution of the war in Iraq; but when GWBush finally decided to follow the advice of Generals Petraeus and Odierno in implementing The Surge, he effectively WON THE WAR.
Ramadi, Fallujah, Mosul, Tikrit -- all of those cities were WON under GWBush, and were pacified. And as we all know, it was Obama who threw it all away ... and gave it to ISIS.
If historians of the future are honest and fair, I believe we will see GWBush credited for a lot more than he is now. How often do we hear, for example, that Libya's Khaddaffi GAVE UP all Libya's nuclear weaponry as a result of Bush's decision to overthrow Saddam Hussein? And that all of Libya's nuclear components now sit dismantled, safely, somewhere in Tennessee?
So I for one cannot despise the Bush name. It's too bad for Jeb, because as I say, I believe he is a decent man. He has an excellent pro-life record, and I will always admire him for that. But he is not the man for 2016, and the sooner he realizes that, the better.
If you watch Fox news ,you probably know who Chris Stirewalt is. He is the “digital news editor” , what ever that is, but he is an establishment propagandist. That is why I was in open mouth amazement this morning when he said that Bush did so bad that he is “becoming a nuisance”. That is a major shift from that man. I think Bush is history after last night primarily because the money will stop.
