He doesn't need the money ( as most pols do...see how much they all came into politics with and how much they are worth at the end! ), he doesn't need "power" ( he had and has power ), he certainly doesn't need the death threats, loss of business, nor his name besmirched, and his family members attacked, insult, threatened, and losing business either.
The FFs couldn't think of everything and the world has greatly changes, as has the price of elections, since they formed this union.

Great post. Rush nails it. And I’m not buying Trump’s recently created conservative credentials either. He recently told GOPe that 18 months ago he was one of them. I believe if he wins he will be back to being one of them. He has just used them to gain support because he knows they are disliked. The art of the deal.
And because he is TRUMP... he will now attack Rush for daring to say anything negative about him.

Considering Trump's hair-trigger tendency to attack anyone he views as insulting him or threatening his position, yes, I worry about having his finger on the nuke button.

Does anyone know what a conservative is? Does anyone get to just call themselves conservative? TPA, Corker, Club for Growth, etc. Many have explained Cruz’s votes on both. You’ve seem them. Can Club for Growth not give money to whoever they want? Would you turn down a job at Goldman Sachs? If you can’t see how Trump’s negatives outweigh Cruz’s, I know there’s nothing I can say to you.
If you hate CFG, GS, COC, etc., why do you like Trump? Trump says he give money to politicians as the price of doing business.
