They open purses and backpacks at Disney World too.....
....they also scan your fingerprint

This is the visible protection.....
...the invisible security is all around you.

I feel the same at the state fair in Dallas. The place is crawling with cops, so not much need to carry there. Unfortunately you have to go through some of the worst parts of Dallas to get in. And cross a parking lot patrolled by gangs looking for trouble.

Plus, two more reasons not to carry at WDW:

because WDW is loaded with undercover cops, even if a situation called for producing a weapon, the chances of you being shot (by a cop) immediately for doing so are high. In that case, in a dangerous situation, you are one of the threats to be eliminated.

Also, it is very common to be jostled in a theme park, in line, etc. The chance of detection by someone pushed into you who intinctively reaches out to balance themselves by placing a steadying hand on the small of your back isn’t rare there. And again, when that person tells security about what they felt, you aren’t just a CCW, you’re a threat.

I’m confused. Did he try to take a gun that was “in” Magic Kingdom or did they mean he tried to take a gun “into” it?

Oh, I forgot. The high school kid who writes the headlines was out sick so they turned the work over to the younger kids.

On another note.....
The lass & I attended the Florida State Fair at Tampa last February. It’s a public venue so CCW is OK. There had been trouble in years past with gangs (guess who). The powers that be put the word out that concealed carry was welcome.

Going through the ticket/entry area I dodged the guy with the wand and was directed over to the “special” lane where deputies were milling about.
I was asked for my CCW & promptly presented it. No problems, no hassle - come on in and have a good time.
One deputy recognized me from my IDPA days and just wanted to talk about Glocks...

CCW is about mitigating risk. WDW in my estimation is a rare place where it’s more risky to carry than not. Nobody is getting in without a pocket pistol and the place is lousy with undercover cops. I’m confident there that a shooter situation would be immediately controlled by professionals.

Somebody is always too close to the shooter for the "professionals" to get there in time....

When fighting for one's life, it is good to be aware of the possibility of collateral damage, but at what point does one opt to "go gently into the night" rather than claw for personal survival?

I understand and agree with much of your reasoning, but my responsibility is also to my loved ones and while I value all life, I am "biased" for the home team.

I’m with you. If it were just my husband and me I wouldn’t bother with carrying. But, we always have our little one with us. I would love to believe that the place is swarming with undercovers and there would never be an issue that wasn’t taken care of swiftly, but I have no proof that is the case. In fact, not too long ago a couple of black women got into a fight in line for one of the rides and the it was the ride staff who had to step in first and wait and wait for park security to show up. Maybe the undercovers are instructed not to get involved in simple fights. Maybe they just aren’t as many of them as we hope.

Be safe - some time back my wife took her gun out of her purse and got ready to leave. I asked what she was doing and she said she was only going to Wal Mart - she didn't anticipate any problems. I pointed out that the folks in the diner in Killeen Texas felt that way, the folks in the theater in Colorado felt that way, the folks at Fort Hood felt that way, etc., etc.,...

She said I was right, put the gun back in the purse and only removes it when heading on to the local AFB these days.

No scanning of fingerprints in Anaheim, know all about their in house security, my point is that it would not be that hard at all for multiple people to bring in weapons or even types of explosives to the busiest, most crowded place there is.

Yep, I carry everywhere. Y’all be safe too. I would love for you to come back and tell me you’ve talked your wife into carrying on her person instead of her purse. It’s a hassle, I know, but women’s purses are targeted often. And here’s a true story; girl I’ve known for many years has her carry permit, was sitting in her car in a fast food parking lot waiting for her highschool age kids to come out. Guy with gun opens the passenger door and tells her to get out. She says Ok, but I’m taking my purse. He tells her she better leave it. She wasn’t carrying that day, so he luckily didn’t get her gun.
