Kara Hultgreen and Carey Lohrenz were about to make history. As naval officers and aviators in 1994, they were part of the first class of female fighter pilots in the history of the Navy, and preparing to fly the legendary F-14 Tomcat in combat from an aircraft carrier deploying to the Persian Gulf.
Within months, however, virtually everything went wrong. Hultgreen, a lieutenant who used the call signs "Hulk and "Revlon," died off the coast of San Diego as her jet crashed Oct. 25, 1994, during training on a final approach to land on the USS Abraham Lincoln. Lohrenz, a lieutenant who used the call sign "Vixen," exhibited below-average performance in the following months as the Abraham Lincoln crossed the Pacific, according to personnel records leaked to the media at the time and a subsequent inspector general investigation. Her commanding officer eventually disqualified her from flying in 1995 while at sea.

Kick the can down the road for a year.
Trump will purge the military and government. Start with a 10% cut and ax all the ‘recent hires’ (Obama hires).
It’ll be funny how quickly the lefties will bash “Executive Orders” once Trump is elected.
Right now I am thinking of that movie scene where Jack Nicholson screams “You can’t handle the TRUTH!!!!”
I guess the disgusting multiple rapes of POW Jessica Lynch (which the libtards don’t talk about anymore) mean nothing to these total a-holes. Wasn’t she a media darling until she related what they did to her? Huh?
They couldn’t wait to make a movie out of her combat and capture. Then . . . silence.
Call Sign “Revlon”???
This is powder puff I say again powder puff, guns are hot requesting permission to fire.
Women can hide in a combat unit surrounded by men who can make up for their inherent insufficiencies.Put an all female infantry Battalion in the field and watch them get chewed up and spit out.
Call signs are given by peers, not selected by the pilots.
Culture changes every day, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. What will not change is the nature of ground combat and culture and political agendas will ever remain fantasies that will never intrude into the realities of the realm of infantry and special operations combat.
Those who have worked incessantly to achieve this political victory will likely never to volunteer to do this, they already disdain service in the military in any form. After a short flurry of interest, very few women will seek the ground gaining combat arms, they will make more rational decisions for themselves.
Unfortunately, some, egged on by the female mafia will sign up and will be cheered on by the usual suspects. Then, they and other soldiers will be brutally killed, raped, etc. and the idea will quietly go away.
I still don’t hear conservatives asking the obvious question:
Why are we letting this disgraced alleged “president” do this unilaterally?
Where is Congress, who should be making policies like this when they are so crucial to our national security?
“chewed up and spit out” politically correct speak for ‘slaughtered’ ...
The Russians and the Israelis both tried this and quickly dropped it.
And the rapes of Maj Rhonda Cornum as well (Gulf War I).
She denied being raped when she testified in front of congress but when she had to get legal releases for her book(and movie deal that never happened) from the only other survivor of her crash, he balked and said he was going to go public because she is lying.
She then was recalled in front of congress and she dismissed being raped as nothing more that usual POW abuse and also admitted she knew being raped is a huge issue and would not support women in combat roles.
She was the flight surgeon to the 2/229 attack regiment, and she ABANDONED her MASH post in a combat environment and jumped on-board a CSAR helo headed to try and pick up a downed F-16 pilot with a broken leg, thereby invalidating the combat medics on-board the helo, and off they went and promptly got shot down and she was taken prisoner along with a surviving pathfinder (he had a broken back).
He couldn’t do anything but watch as she was raped (in all ways) at the crash scene, en-route to Baghdad and while in captivity.
Somehow she is a “hero” for abandoning her post in a combat environment and put at risk 900 men in her regiment, and lied to congress.
Wonder if the compost will publish this letter from the same Sgt Maj.
Gee, I don’t know. Maybe being
commander in chief of the military
has something to do with it, ya think?
I know - apparently the PC brass at the circus cannot learn from other mils’ mistakes - or alternately, the WH ordered them to initiate the program regardless of financial cost or cost of soldiers’ lives. Either we lose this war with Islam.
We should fill the combat ranks with all those women who play in the NFL, NBA, etc.
Your post ignores the vast responsibilities in the area of national defense vested in the Congress via the Constitution.
