How this guy get in the Army or is this an act I hope I don't get heat for this but I recall reading he failed his mental evaluation but because there was a shortage of troops he was allowed to join (or not be discharged - I don't know when the evaluation took place but it was before he went AWOL).

“In it, he claims he deserted his unit to highlight poor leadership...” Of what leadership was he referring; his, his immediate or the commander in chief? If it was his immediate leadership, I don’t understand how he was going to prove his point by deserting unless he was high on hashish.

That’s too cruel. I think that he should be buried up to the waist in sand and then stoned. But, he should be buried head first to the waist. The stoning will just allow the troops that he deserted to alleviate some of their anger with his preferential treatment. By the way, I met his family before it was publicly known that he deserted. They are just a little “out there”. It doesn’t surprise me that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Just weird.
