I have a question in to a former pastor of mine (he married my wife and I). He is ‘soft’ on Islam and has, according to him, many Muslim friends. I specifically asked him to ask his Muslim friends about taqiyya. He responded by asking if I had asked a Muslim myself. I don’t know any Muslims, and I wouldn’t know where or how to find one...not that I have any inclination to.
I explained what I thought the interpretation of taqiyya was. I am awaiting his reply.
In the past, his teaching has ALWAYS been sound. I will be saddened if he has abandoned sound teaching.
Your Christian pastor should not be expected to know a lot about other religions. Here is a good explanation from a good source.
It is impossible to understand Islam and Muslims by listening to their protestations against terror and their proclamations of patriotism for America. Usually, it is wise and fair to give people the benefit of the doubt but when it comes to national safety and the future of America, we had better look twice, even thrice at Muslim patriotism. Why? Because Islam permits lying! It is called Al-taqiyya. One Muslim said that Al-taqiyya means dissimulation then he expanded it to diplomacy but he should have gone further to deception. Now some Muslims who do not follow the Koran are as faithful Americans as any of us, but the problem is, we cannot know.
