Impeach Obama. Well, It's a Start
Artful Dilettante ^ | December 7, 2015 | Robert J. Seyko

I just returned from the grocery store. While waiting in line, as usual, I checked out the tabloid headlines. One particular headline, from The Globe I believe, caught my immediate attention. It read: IMPEACH OBAMA: He’s a disgrace. No thinking person could be opposed to such a thing. It would make for the ultimate national Christmas stocking-stuffer. On the way home, however, I asked myself, “Would impeaching Obama really change anything, I mean, fundamentally and systemically? And the answer was unequivocally, “No.” Even if you impeached Obama, John Boehner, Nancy Pelosi, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and Harry Reid, it wouldn’t make a difference. And even if you impeached every single member of Congress, the Supreme Court, and every Cabinet officer on top of that, nothing would change. At least nothing discernable. You see, it’s the System that really needs impeached, the whole, corrupt, rotten Crony-Socialist State. Elections only decide who gets to pick your pocket and hold the boot over your neck. Changing the warden and the prison guards doesn’t change the prison. The prison may occasionally get a new coat of paint, but that’s about it. It remains fundamentally unchanged.

The next election will be no different. There will be a new president, new congressmen and congresswomen, new Cabinet officers, and armies of new toadies and ass-kissers to fill the ranks of the countless bureaus and agencies. But the elephant in the room, the ever-metasticizing Welfare-Warfare State will not change.

So, while impeaching the top level of the American political class might feel great to a lot of people and entitle us to a coast-to-coast high-five, it would be a very short-lived moment of national euphoria. We would soon wake up to the realization that the plantation overseers were new, but not improved. And alas, the plantation would still be a plantation.

When you come right down to it, it’s the American people that deserve to be impeached. All of this convoluted mess in which we find ourselves happened on our watch. I think the vast majority of the American people are politically clueless. Or at least challenged. Political ignorance is, after all, a politician’s greatest asset. And they have leveraged our ignorance beyond their wildest dreams. The average American can be trusted with a deadly weapon but not the right to vote. Our current predicament is neither an economic crisis nor a foreign policy crisis. It is a moral crisis, a crisis of virtue. Once a proud, self-reliant, thrifty, hard-working citizenry, we have become a nation of dependents and parasites. We’ve become addicted to our neighbors’ largesse. And when our neighbors run out of money, we outsource the costs to our children and grandchildren, even the unborn. Our legacy is making them lifelong debt slaves. We may have the distinction of being the first generation of Americans to leave the place worse than we found it.

I can remember my parents saving for new livingroom furniture or their first color TV. That’s just what people did. If you told someone today you were saving for something, they would look at you as though you had three heads. Being on “relief” was something you never dared admit. It was embarrassing; it called your work ethic and character into question. And if you were on public assistance, it was a short-term fix, never meant to be a way of life. When I graduated high school, three students out of a class 700 received awards for outstanding scholarship. At my son’s high school graduation, about 207 out of 209 students received an award. Everyone gets a trophy, every Precious Snowflake.

Work today has sort of become an option; it’s just so yesterday. And why not? Why work to support your neighbor when you can stay home and have your neighbor support you? It’s called the Socialist Paradox. Success and self-improvement are values of a by-gone era; some call it “acting white.” Saving for college is likewise for suckers. Why save when it’s so much more fun to spend? Our college-aged generation have completely embraced the New Ethic. Witness the student uprisings at Mizzou and elsewhere. Among their beliefs—a student with a degree in Transgender Climate Studies should reap the same financial rewards as a student with a degree in aeronautical engineering. And why not? As Karl Marx taught them, if it takes you four years to earn a degree in 12th-Century Aztec Poetry, it is worth just as much as a four-year degree in physics. He called it the Labor Theory of Value. But what do you expect from the “everyone gets a trophy” generation? What do you expect from a generation where victimhoom is worn as a badge of honor? What do you expect from a generation that thinks “community organizing” is a real job. We live in an age historians will call The Triumph of the Incompetent.

Oh sure, Obama and the rest of them deserve to be impeached, probably thrown in jail. They are as corrupt and criminal a bunch as mankind has ever known. But the American people are accessories to their crimes. Totally complicit. Unindicted co-conspirators. They have aided and abetted the crimes of the ruling class every step of the way. They have sold their birthright to feed at the public trough. As in–all you can eat. So if you’re looking to fix blame for our nation’s current mess, look no further than the mirror. And if you want real, fundamental, no smoke-and-mirrors reform, don’t bother voting in the next election. The Incompetent will win again and nothing will change. It’s as predictable as the tides.

I don't think Biden would be as bad as Obama. For one thing, people could criticize him without being called racists.

Yesterday C-SPAN re-aired an event from last Thursday when Dick Cheney's bust was unveiled (the Capitol has busts of former Vice Presidents). George W. Bush, Joe Biden, and Dick Cheney were the speakers.

Biden didn't try to hide that he disagreed with Cheney on almost every issue but still spoke of him with respect and stressed the importance of not questioning the motives of people you disagree with. I don't think he has always practiced what he preached but contrast that with Obama who is constantly maligning the motives of anyone who disagrees with him.

GWB was funny. He recalled how Cheney as VP was President of the Senate and that every time he voted "we won."

Cheney praised his wife and mused about how fortunate he was to happen to be in Wyoming at the right time and meet her. He had teased her that if she had not married him she wouldn't be there at the unveiling ceremony. She had responded that she would have been--the man she would have married instead would have been the VP now being honored.

Crazy old uncle Joe would do no where near the damage that zer0 has caused.

Agreed. People keep throwing that in my face when I bring up impeachment, but Joe is truly the incompetent one of the two. I would have preferred a final couple years of a bumbling, stupid idiot who has no clout than an Islamo-fascist making targeted slashes at America.

I agree. Joe is a moron, but he isn’t inherently evil and he isn’t a muslim.
