Muslim Reform Movement Kicks Off in Washington, D.C.
Clarion Project ^ | Dec. 7, 2015

Posted on 12/07/2015 8:09:55 AM PST by nuconvert

The time has come that when people ask, “Where are the Muslim voices?” everyone should be able to say “here they are!”

There is a buzz on social media today about a new Muslim Reform Movement, and any of you are wondering what this is all about. Here is some background: The Paris terrorism attacks seemed to be the last straw for many Muslims like us who abhor violence in the name of our faith. So we decided to do something about radical Islamist extremism growing by the day and threatening the future of our next generations.

A group of reform-minded Muslims gathered in Washington, D.C. for a brainstorming session. While we were there, the San Bernardino terror attacks took place, and we quickly realized that we have reached the tipping point. This made our work even more urgent.

This initiative was started by Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, an ex-naval officer of the US Navy and now a physician. He invited thinkers, academics, activists and two imams from Copenhagen, London, Ottawa, Toronto, Phoenix, Philadelphia and Portland to gather for a 24-hour summit.

We discussed and debated what we could do to go beyond words and start taking some action. After intense talks for two days, in which we debated terminology, ideas and theology, we came up with a declaration and a course of action.

On Dec. 4, we jointly presented the declaration at a press conference hosted at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.:

(Video at link)

Following the press conference, some of us went to a place founded by the most diabolical country in the world which funds terrorism and is the root of our problems: the Saudi-funded mosque in Washington DC. Here, we posted the first declaration on the door – despite threats and intimidation from the administration.

A few brave men from our group led the way for us as we reclaimed our first space – three women prayed in the main section of the mosque. This is ground breaking not just for all mosques but particularly for this one. We were nearly arrested, but we persevered and left the stamp of the Muslim Reform Movement on their grounds.

The declaration is noted below with names of the signatories. This is a work in progress and our aim is to invite all our friends and neighbors – people of faith and those of no faith – to join our movement, because we can’t do this alone.

The time has come that when people ask, “Where are the Muslim voices?” everyone should be able to say “here they are!”

OK. Convince me.

Give me some evidence that this is not an example of the specific concept proffered by the koran that it is acceptable to lie to infidels in the furtherance of islam.

As it is, you are simply playing the childish “no it’s not” game.

There is no reforming something as violent as islam. Islam is islam. You need look no further than its founder and its “holy” books.

A good person to reform Islam is the teacher who spoke this sentence.

As I said upthread, it does not hurt to allow this group to try.

But it would be foolish to forestall any of our own defensive actions based on the hope that they will successfully invalidate the fundamental basis of their ‘religion’.

You seem very hostile this morning.

“The Paris terrorism attacks seemed to be the last straw for many Muslims like us who abhor violence in the name of our faith.”

It’s a bit odd that the thousands killed on 9/11 weren’t the “last straw”.

Correct. One would think that lately FR has some Muslims on board. I'm seeing some strange remarks which seem sympatric to Islam.

If they are here, one word WE WILL NOT CALM DOWN and wait for your next attack. Your day is coming.

So, I’ll leave that for these muslims to decide & work out.

...

It’s been 14 years since 9/11. Reform doesn’t seem to be going too well. The evidence appears to falling into the Islam is unreformable column.

This is exactly the news we need.

I don’t, for one minute, believe that all Muslims, especially the American ones, go along with all this terrorist garbage. Not for one second.

The lesson for these Muslims, can be taken from the Italian-Americans and the mafia. From one generation to another, the Italians were thought to be mafia...all of them. We got the discrimination we richly deserved because of it.Some of us were rounded up during WWII, btw. We were painted with that brush because that is all people knew of us. To this day, I meet folks who assume I know a member of the mafia. Finally, the “regular” Italians came to realize that the only ones to solve this were the Italians themselves. You can ask any prosecutor in any big U.S. city and they will tell you that it was Italian-American citizens themselves (ask Guiliani!) that provided the tips that ended up killing off the Italian mafia. We knew that there would never be peace, respect, or trust unless this cancer went away. I also believe the Muslims are scared to speak out, just as my fellow Italians were, that the violence would be directed toward them. And it was.

For the record, not one human being in my family was ever mafia. My dad only knew people who knew other people who knew others who might be mafia. So we hated the Italian mafia more than anyone else. And Italians who didn’t go along with the mafia were in every bit as much danger as Muslims are now, those who don’t go along. Go back and read some historic accounts of what the mafia did to those who didn’t “play along.” It took a couple of generations.

I wish I had rather been known for my Dad’s great spaghetti sauce and meatball recipe. :(

I also wish Dr. Jasser the best. He’s got more guts than I do.

I would not be surprised if we were infiltrated by moderate or as I like to call them- pre-active muslims.

Just sent these mothereffers the e-mail below:

Sorry folks, No Sale Here,

Actions speak louder than words, and to date, the so-called “Muslim Community” has been completely silent on the wanton death and distruction your “faith” has been visiting on the world! Actually, when you look at history, you’ve been doing it for centuries. When we non-muslims looks at your “holy book,” the koran, we see that Jihad is ingrained in your teachings, along with lying to us when it suits your purposes, and other perversions that give even further pause to our believing anything you do or say. So for openers, if you expect to have any credibility, you need to expunge those verses from the koran and prove that you are going to do what you are professing in your kickoff article. But I suspect that this whole thing is just another exercise to try and through the rest of us off the “scent” about the fact that you are really still what the koran says you are, a people bent on the theory that there should be no religions on the face of the earth save yours. Fortunately, the United States isn’t like the rest of the world, and your liklihood for success here is non-existent. Americans will not allow you to continue to live amongst us as you seek to subvert our country.

REALLY? You thought a religion of a billion and 1/2 people was going to be reformed in 14yrs?

Reform will take decades....100 yrs? more?
You can be sure it will take even longer if the MSM refuses to talk about it.

I'm sure of it, but I would not be so kind to call them Moderates. Islam is FULL BLOWN evil hatred.

They will have to rip up the Koran and acknowledge it as false doctrine before I ever give one of them my ear to spew their evil ways.

A moderate muslim is like a Moderate voter, both evil as they are neither hot or cold. A moderate voter will argue both sides and take the opposite of your views every time. Why? Just because......and they like an argument.

I do not believe that there will be a reform movement, but it might be the case that they will be lukewarm Muslims.
