What’s the deal with the podium if front of the oval office desk? Was it meant to be disrespectful to US or some other signal to the muslim world? Or both.

When they said he would be speaking from the Oval Office, I expected him to be behind the desk as presidents have done in the past. It’s almost as if he he couldn’t sit behind the desk of an ‘American President’ to lecture us all or something weird. Maybe he figured if he did that, his Muslim buddies would take offense.

BTW, any problems “moderate” Muslims are having with people being suspicious, profiling or whatever can be laid directly at Omuslim’s feet. If he had been forthright from the beginning, identified who/what the terrorist problem is, and put forth some effective steps to deal with it, Americans would not feel like they were on their own. Now, we feel like the president is an enabler of the terrorists at worst, a comrade in arms at best ... everything he does is at odds with protecting America and her citizens so we are taking care of ourselves (as we should anyway) and that means arming ourselves, being vigilant, and being suspicious of those who embrace a “religion” that espouses if not requires the killing of those who do not believe the same.

I was wondering about the podium in the oval orifice (with apologies to Rush) myself. It was noticeably different and strange compared to Odumbo’s past addresses (and those of earlier Presidents) when he sat at the desk...maybe that was the point? For most Americans, the OO desk is a symbol of the importance and gravity for the subject matter being presented...maybe, Odumbo was physically signaling to Americans or to his ISIS comrades that the topic is not important to him and he will remain soft on terrorism? Since he did not announce any significant changes to his approach to ISIS, it appears the most important thing to him in this speech was scolding Americans for their guns and for their bigotry against Islam!

Yeah, how did him standing help his message of Kiss Muslim Ass No Matter What? I could have heard that crap from him sitting.

How I see it since there is no reason for a podium in the Oval office:

obama wrote "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction" p261 AoH

The podium was a signal to muslims. obama is standing with them.

Since obama did not sit behind the oval office desk, he showed that he is no longer OUR sitting president. He is theirs, the muslim's president.
