Sanders unveils plan to address climate change

WASHINGTON - Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is rolling out a plan to slow down the impact of climate change, vowing to cut U.S. carbon emissions by 40 percent by 2030.

The Democratic presidential candidate said in a proposal released Monday that he would seek to impose a tax on carbon dioxide pollution, long a non-starter with majority Republicans in Congress, and aim to slash carbon pollution in the U.S. by 80 percent by 2050 compared to levels in 1990. The proposal, he said, would put "people before the profits of polluters."

Sanders has made efforts to reduce global warming a cornerstone of his presidential campaign and his 16-page proposal, released as negotiators meet at the U.N. climate conference in Paris, provides the first extensive details on how he would seek to address it.

Sanders' plan sets goals of creating a 100 percent clean energy system sustained by wind and solar power but does not specify a timetable for doing so. It estimated the clean energy sector would create 10 million jobs and his plan would also seek to protect low-income and minority communities which have been adversely affected by massive storms like Hurricane Katrina.

It would seek to repeal billions in tax subsidies to oil, gas and other fossil fuel producers, which President Barack Obama has unsuccessfully sought throughout his presidency. It would also attempt to build upon Obama's work to promote more fuel efficiency in the nation's fleet of cars and trucks. Sanders would seek to raise fuel efficiency standards to 65 miles per gallon for passenger cars by 2025, a higher level compared with current plans to reach 54.5 miles per gallon for the 2025 model year.

The stupidity......it burns!!

If these watermelons really feared CO2 and wanted to reduce it, without killing our economy, they'd be pushing nuclear power, instead of more expensive, less reliable wind and solar.

And how many thousands will have to die because of Obama's moronic CAFE standards hike to 54.5 MPG? Might as well make everyone ride scooters.

Do tell how this will work. As India and China ramp UP usage for the next 100 years.

Economic suicide for a Socialist Utopian dream to solve a green scare non-threat.

Why is it US that has to do this when we are nowhere near the top polluters in the world?

Does BertErnie ever address the exhalation of CO2 by humans and what’s to be done about that?

If the old commissar Sanders is actually elected President then it will be proof positive that America has descended into a hopeless mire of post Christian, neo pagan hedonism and decadence.

Like I always like to say, we worry about things that won’t kill us while being dismissive of things that do kill us.

Case in point: Bernie Sanders has no foreign policy.

I am taking an environmental science class in college. The left are beyond the point of no return. They completely went off the deep end.

I asked my professor how taxing companies would reduce carbon emissions. He said, because of higher taxes, companies would use less carbon so they won’t have to pay. Seriously. I said, wouldn’t it be cheaper to lower the taxes so companies can devise cleaner means to produce energy? He couldn’t grasp that concept.

Lemme make some suggestions for him.

1. Don’t drive
2. Don’t fly
3. Disconnect from the electric grid
4. Disconnect your phone
5. Stop using your cell phone
6. Do not heat or cool your house
7. Do not eat meat or fish
8. Do not pee or poop
9. Hold your breath

That ought to do it.

Decadent, yes, but there won't be much hedonic pleasure under Sanders or Hillary.

Yo Barry! We ain’t going to have to worry about “climate changes” if we don’t do something about the illegal alien invasion of America and the terrorism they are bringing with them.

Aw hell, why not just ban all vehicles and go back to horses? While we are at it, shut down all fossil fuel and coal powered plants and just burn wood like the “Good Old Days”? C’mon Bernie. If your serious, go all the way !

Bernie Sanders: Climate Change is Directly Related To Terrorism

by Michelle Fields
Nov 14, 2015

"In fact, climate change is directly related to the growth of terrorism," said Sanders.

"And if we do not get our act together and listen to what the scientists say, you're going to see counties all over the world...they're going to be struggling over limited amounts of water, limited amounts of land to grow their crops, and you're going to see all kinds of international conflict."

Sanders said at the second Democratic debate in Iowa that climate change poses the biggest threat to America's national security and to security of the world. ..."
