Congress should act to make sure no one on a no fly list is able to buy a gun. What could possibly be the argument for allowing a terror suspect to buy a semiautomatic weapon?Yes, how could we possibly object to being put on a secret list by some bureaucrat with a political agenda and no legal process to appeal it?

Yep, on the no fly list and no legal option to appeal it.

This phrasing -- that gun control is a 'national security issue' -- is the most troubling comment in the speech.
Presidents are given broad latitude of action when it relates to 'national security issues'.

Never let a crisis go to waste.
Disarming the citizenry in the face of an ever increasingly corrupt federal government is his primary goal.
Islamic terrorism furthers his cause which is why he’s bringing mobs of Muslims into the country.

Salami, peanut butter and some others often appear to cameras to resemble Semtex, or C4 plastic explosives.
Let me be clear I’m not accusing your friend of anything.
They’re probably trying to deter anyone from ever carrying things that make them do their jobs at all, and that job seems to be investigating people concerned about ClockBoy, etc.

GEE! Who controls the no-fly list? NOW that same person wants us to all be on it so he can take away our weapons.
Ain’t he cute.

Good point.
While referencing “Congress” as the proper entity to fix his fictitious ‘national security issue’, then when Congress doesn’t perform, he thinks that he will have the authority to fix it because Congress didn’t act on the ‘national security issue.’

Denying rights protected by the Bill of Rights should only happen as a consequence of due process where the person is convicted in a court of law by a jury of peers for an act serious enough to require incarceration to keep the public safe. A "no fly list" is a secret document maintained by bureaucrats. There is no due process involved in placing a person on the list and no established process for being removed. It is a handy tool for politicians to punish enemies in a manner that defies reversal. Call your congress critters and insist that the "no fly list" is not a valid basis for denying rights protected by the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The Tea Party members will immediately find themselves on the no-fly list.
To: Nachum
We have too much gun control and it impedes the ability of citizens to defend themselves in a moment of emergency.

My niece is on the no fly list.I'll bet she has no idea how or why she is on the list. Further, she won't be told why and won't be allowed to pursue removal from the list. It needs go away.

She was an acquaintance, not an ongoing friend
But she was doing something she had done many times before, and had reason to believe was OK. I’ve been told many times that processed food is not a problem.
I fly occasionally, and every time I go, it’s something different—shoes on, shoes off, nylon belt on, belt off anyway, computer out of case, power supply and cables ok in pack; then not ok. They must be making this up as they go along. I understand varying security, but these things seem aimless and meaningless.

So if someone is not a US citizen, and is too much of a risk to buy a firearm or to fly, why is he or she still in the country?
And if someone is a US citizen, and is too much of a risk to buy a firearm or to fly, why is he or she not under indictment or in prison?

So I’m thinking that in the near future there will be a policy that if you own a gun, you should be on the no fly list. Once on the no fly list you can not buy a gun or maybe even own a gun.
Neatly done.
