The Myths

Presidents can issue executive orders that are legally binding on the general public.

These executive orders are backed by the full force of law just like laws passed through the formal legislative process.

A president can use executive orders to go around congress.

The president can use executive orders to modify laws passed by congress and can order executive departments to selectively enforce provisions of laws.

These executive orders are authorized by the Constitution.

The Truth

Yes the president can issue executive orders however these orders are only binding on members of the executive department of the federal government. They are not legally binding on anyone outside the executive department.

Only laws passed through the formal legislative process have full force of law. Executive orders do not meet this requirement.

Congress alone has the power to write and pass laws. If congress chooses not to pass laws that the president advocates for the president can in no way act unilaterally. The president is restrained by the Constitution.

The president must enforce laws that are passed by the formal legislative process as they are written. If the president does not like a bill passed by congress or feels it violates the Constitution then the president can veto it before it becomes law.

Issuing executives orders that are given the full force of law is a clear violation of several provisions of the Constitution

Constitution of The United States of America....

I will not comply. I will stand on the Bonner County Courthouse steps and exchange firearms with a friend for $1.00 per exchange.

That's what I like to see. In fact, we should hold mass private sales, right on the court steps in every city. Hundreds of thousands of us, MILLIONS, all with LOADED firearms, selling and buying and refusing to do background checks.

REFUSE TO COMPLY. BE A REFUSENIK.

This man is a clear and present danger to every American. Can we survive to January, 2017?

My feelings exactly. This damn Congress lets him do whatever he wants. RINOs step up wherever necessary to put the crap bills over the line. I really don't feel we have anyone on our side except Trump.

Problem is, to get to Jan. 2017, we have to go through a barricade of treasonous, donor-owned politicians and our enemy-within POTUS.

Could be. Doesn’t matter if he does, though. The answer is NO.

I find it very interesting the Democrats, and especially the asshat leading this administration, his associates, and every single Democrat involved with his administration always seek ways around laws we have on the books.

Laws are on the books for reasons, for purpose. They wouldn’t be there if there wasn’t a reason for the law.

Our constitution is the basic law, it’s the foundation of our constitutional republic, and yet instead of complying with the oath of office they took at the time they were either inaugurated, or instilled in their positions the Democrat tries to circumvent the laws instead of enforce them.

It would sure be nice if they would TELL THE TRUTH here, rather than make the claim that the president cannot act by simply deeming it to be law, at least for this president.

No the TRUTH is that the DEMOCRATS in the House and Senate (who are not in safe districts) are SCARED TO DEATH about being forced to vote on a bill that would overturn whatever the President tries. I think it takes about two thirds of the Democrats to sustain a veto, so they’d be forced with supporting an illegal gun grab, or trying to save their own skins. They’d rather not have to deal with it.

they are months away from the Unconstitutional rewrite of the Brady Act.

I don't think he has that long. If it's past 1 March it turns the Presidential campaign into a huge referendum on gun control and everybody who has had a look at any more or less honest polls knows how badly that will turn out for the Dems, even with the undoubted enthusiastic support of the media. 0bama needs a Reichstag Fire, and this one wasn't it although to judge by the media reaction they have been eagerly anticipating it.

On a broader note, I cannot believe how out of touch the DC crowd is on this issue. We've just had 14 people murdered in an act of Islamic terrorism and all we're hearing is gun control pointed straight at American citizens, and unalloyed support for the poor oppressed Muslim population who, strangely, have yet to experience their first non-self-inflicted casualty. (And they wonder why people are buying guns). A fellow and his activist staff this out of touch are capable of almost anything, constitutional or otherwise.

The slimy grey turd will emerge on Sunday, December 6 at 2000 hours in the Oval Orifice and it will descend into the bowels of the White Mosque, emitting such a powerful stench that Lord Foul will have to go immediately on a million dollar Vacay to some far off island until the stench subsides. Lady Foul will schedule fumigation of the White Hut during their leave.

Also: One thing I have seen this adminstration do over and over is warn people in advance of their unconstitutional moves. They usually seem to say "Obama will declare gravity illegal on Thursday" all week preceding the crazy announcement. If he drops a bomb tomorrow, it would be completely out of character for the normal behavior of these criminals.

I suspect he will rail against guns and call LaPierre a terrorist, but that's about it.
