A group of black student protesters at Emory University in Atlanta issued a hysterical list of strident âdemandsâ â their word â to the university administration, and demanded that they respond by December 4, or else. You know the drill: race radicals say âjump,â university administrators say âhow high?â I have posted the studentsâ entire list of demands below, as well as the universityâs full response. Both are extraordinary documents that deserve full reading. The studentsâ demands are mostly a wish list written by spoiled brats, and the universityâs response is a capitulation to them.
I want to focus on one aspect, though, because it is so chilling. The Emory student who sent it to me said:

The left is ALL about thought crime.
That’s the sum total of it, really.
Totalitarianism is its own means and end.
Once you can prosecute (and punish) people for what they believe or think, everything else is a moot point.
This goes for the right too, by the way ... but at present the left is making more headway and much more quickly.
Emory is weapons-grade leftist.
It is important to remember that Emory was home to Micheal Bellisiles, of “Arming America” fame.
His book was show to be a fraud, and he was forced to resign from Emory (which IS a point in Emory’s favor!).
“We don’t let them have ideas. Why would we let them have guns?” - Joseph Stalin.
Thought crime and gun control go hand in hand for the left, as their sacred prophet, Stalin, proclaimed.
And Emory as a leftist bastion: Isn’t that the home of the Carter Center? Enough said.
As students here you are not in a position to demand anything. You are expected to regularly attend classes, study and maintain the student code of conduct at all times.
Any breach of these standards will result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. Any criminal acts will be prosecuted to the fullest. Any disruption of other student's ability to study will be met with fines the money to be distributed to the effected students.
If you are unable or unwilling to meet these requirements then it is clear that university life is not compatible with your comportment. The university encourages you to seek opportunities in other areas such as house cleaning or the fast food industry.
Would you want people like this to clean your house or prepare your food?
File under “more insanity “.
A couple of thoughts:
1. The Emory University response should not be interpreted as a capitulation. What it really says it that they will refer the issue to a Committee. In Academia-speak, that probably means its going there to die. By the time the Committee finishes it’s “work”, the students may have either graduated or forgotten about it.
2. Student evaluations matter until you have tenure. After that, their importance goes down considerably. If you bring in the grant $$, how you teach may matter very little. If you are a tenured full professor, you can pretty much wipe your butt with student evaluations.
By the time the Committee has finished its "work", the students will probably have died of old age.
