Robert Loggia, durable and versatile star of movies and TV shows including Brian De Palma’s 1986 “Scarface†and “Big,†died Friday in Los Angeles, his widow Audrey confirmed to Variety. He was 85.
He was nominated for a Supporting Actor Academy Award for “Jagged Edge†in 1986 for his portrayal of a private detective.
Among the films he appeared in were “An Officer and a Gentleman,†“Prizzi’s Honor,†“Problem Child†and “Big,†in which performed a memorable duet on a giant piano with Tom Hanks.
He was nominated for an Emmy in 1989 for his portrayal of FBI agent Nick Mancuso in the sseries “Mancuso FBI†and again in 2000 for his guest star role in “Malcolm in the Middle.â€
Loggia also portrayed a violent mobster named Feech La Manna on several episodes of “The Sopranos.â€
He was a nice hunk of man. We could use more of the same. RIP, Sir. Your contribution will be missed.

I remember that when it aired. It was more like an SNL commercial than a real one.
Imagine a spoof with the folks, the dad saying “Who would you believe ?”, the kid saying (instead of Robert Loggia), “How about Frank Booth ?” In walks Dennis Hopper. Hopper (as Booth) says to the kid, “Hey, kid, what kind of orange juice do you like ?” Kid, “I like Tang.” Booth, “Tang ? F*** that $hit ! MINUTE MAID O.J. !” Frank turns to the mom, “Baby wants to **** ! Let’s ****, I’ll **** anything that moves !” Dad says, “Here’s to your ****, Frank !” They all hoist a glass of Minute Maid O.J.
Gee whiz, I should’ve written for SNL...
I did too. Rare for me to remember a commercial after so many years.
