Catholic San Bernardino Victim Fled Islamic Extremism in Iran

One of the victims of the San Bernardino massacre was an Iranian Roman Catholic who had fled Iran in 1987 to “escape Islamic extremism and the persecution of Christians that followed the Iranian Revolution,” according to a statement released by her family.

Bennetta Betbadal, 46, was among 14 people killed on Wednesday at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino by terrorists Syed Farook and his wife. The San Bernardino Sun reported that Betbadal (third from left, above) left Iran at the age of 18, first living in New York City and then relocating to California, where she married her husband, Arlen Verdehyou, in 1997. Verdehyou served as a police officer at Riverside Community College.

The couple moved to Rialto; at her death Betbadal left behind a daughter, 15, and two sons, 12 and 10.

Betbadal obtained a degree in chemistry from Cal Poly Pomona and also had a bachelor of science degree in biotechnology, later joining the San Bernardino County Health Department in 2006 as an inspector.

As a devout Catholic, in 2009 Betbadal posted a Facebook note to Ashur Bet Sargis, an Assyrian pop singer: “My dearest Ashur, I thank God for creating you, for creating such a wonderful loving human, and for giving you such a great talent. May our Lord Jesus be with you all the days of your life.”

Betbadal’s family released a statement on a GoFundMe page they that stated, “It is the ultimate irony that her life would be stolen from her that day by what appears to be the same type of extremism that she fled so many years ago.”

Some are calling Betbadal’s murder an example of the genocide of Christians extending beyond the Middle East.

Tuned into CNN for just a few seconds. That awful woman in glasses in earnestly pushing the story that Farooq's family does not believe he was radicalized and do not believe the police about what happened. Of course not. It is not radical to believe in jihad- that is the core of islam.

We have to stop using the term radicalized- it is just the norm- some are active in jihad, some watch quietly on the sidelines.

I know, it’s very, very heartbreaking! Yet, I turn on the TV and the talking heads are still in denial. “The perps had no clear motive”. Hello, they were Jihadists! That was their damned motive! They are here now you jack asses!

The media will do anything to cover Obama’s ass! That includes not admitting that we have terrorist cells in our country! That also includes glossing over the fact that our government couldn’t detect these two dirt bags and had no idea that they were communicating with other terrorists abroad! Nobody will make Obama answer for that because this was obviously “work place violence” over a disagreement at a Christmas party. Yeah , that’s the ticket!

Breitbart is stepping it up with the daily three hour show on XM Patriot Channel - 125. It begins at 0600 Eastern and I hope it will at least rebroadcast or expand to its own channel.

Those three hours alone are well worth the subscription. The whole XM can be streamed and there is an app for those who have the phones.Or you can, like me, get a home receiver.

When he fled Iran we had a REAL man in the white house who loved America and the freedom it stood for.

It’s unreal how they’re still pushing this “workplace violence” theme. The reports are now that there was no argument at the party. Farook was simply acting nervous and left the scene right before a group photo was to be taken.

He was obviously casing the place to see if any armed guards or other security was there, before returning with his wife to commit their well-planned act of mass murder.

A 6th grader could figure this out. The continued obtuseness of the president and the media points to a political agenda to discount the threat of Islamic terrorism on our soil. This is dereliction of duty on the part of the president, and grounds for impeachment.

Besides the violent and the violent of heart, there is a third group of Muslims: those who are somewhere along the road to conversion. PLEASE keep those souls in your prayers every day, and consider how to invite them to make “a closer walk” with the LORD.

Yes, good point.

..and we should readily accept Christian Syrian refugees into our midst.

>>Beyond tragic.

The "moderate" Muslims that allegedly live in America have a secured right (and a moral responsibility) to CONTRADICT the errors of alleged "radical" Muslims.

WHERE ARE THEY?

I bought a new Ford so I have a Sirius subscription - listened to them on 125 this morning. David Bosse and the callers are very fired up. One caller said people are lining up in his town in western PA to get concealed carry permits.
