SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco police officers shot and killed a man Wednesday afternoon in the Bayview District and part of the shooting was captured on cellphone video.
Police say the man who officers shot and killed was wanted in a stabbing that had happened nearby less than an hour before. They describe him as a man in his 20s and have not yet released his name.
A witness posted video of the shooting on Instagram. In it you can see the man walking toward an officer. In the video, someone urges the man to "just drop it," then seconds later a number of shots ring out.

Who cares? We are at war with islamic terrorists in our homeland. We don’t need to obsess over every police related shooting in this country. Let the local authorities handle these cases. We don’t need to be distracted from the real threat facing this country!
Police don’t even try to take a man down physically. Only a few years ago police were trained to deal with these situations and two or even one of them could take any man with a knife down hand ti hand. Now they are trained to shoot if the fellow says leave me alone. But then SanFrancisco is a Liberal City and no back talk is permitted. In a liberal town only instant obedience and subservience is permitted.

I doubt that. They might have some training to defend themselves from a knife attack, but deadly force has always been permitted when confronted with deadly force.
Going by the video the guy was not in a position to be a direct threat to anyone. Our own sheriff’s dept. trains its officers to deal with these things better. We have had several knife wielders taken down by officers without guns or harm to the officers. The cop who lives on my block says it’s easy, a little harder if he is running at you, but still not particularly risky. And yes, the big city cops are trained to shoot with most any plausible excuse. The training is cheaper that way and doesn’t require so much skill in the trainers.
