Donald Trump said that Ted Cruz will have to stop being nice to him to have a chance at winning the primary.
Speaking at a rally in Manassas, Virginia Wednesday night, Trump said the Texas Senator has been easy on him so far during the race. 'Cruz has been great to me," Trump said. Cruz has been careful not to attack Trump, likely because he hopes to pick up Trumpâs support if he drops out of the race.
... Trump continued, 'At some point he's going to have to say, I gotta attack him or else I'm going to come in second place or third place or something. So they've all got to attack. And I love it when they attack because so far everyone that has attacked me ⦠they've gone down."
Cruz has yet to take a swipe at Trump. He recently broke with the business mogul on whether he would be in favor of registering American Muslims in a database, but couched his dissent by saying, "I'm a big fan of Donald Trump's."

No need to attack anyone, but Rubio-- and that only to prevent Rubio from trying to re-brand himself as a conservative.
Let Donald trip.
Pick up all support except RINO.
I would predict that Trump will be the first to attack in this head-to-head matchup. Cruz knows better than to go after Trump in any direct manner.
Cruz doesn’t need to attack, he actually has a record of solid conservatism to tout and a massive, growing grassroots army who is supporting him. Sorry Donald, your baiting isn’t going to catch the biggest fish..CRuz.
Cruz doesn’t have to outrun Trump. He just has to outrun the rest of the field.
I think Cruz would be satisfied with second place - and he should be! Trump/Cruz!
Reuters pioll shows Trump and Rubio picking up Carson supporters too, not all going to Cruz.
Cruz is great with being able to damn with faint praise.
“catch the biggest fish..CRuz.”
Cruz is about at ten percent. And, this solid conservative has some liberal votes under his belt. I am sure you are aware of them.
But I'm perfectly happy for the Cruz campaign to keep its optimism that in 60 days it will magically jump 20 points.
Not being a wise guy, but that Reuter’s poll is absolute garbage.
Trump is certainly in the lead, I think. And you may be right, he may pick up a portion of Carson’s vote. But, I think Trump poisoned that well a bit, when he took off on Carson.
My guess is that Cruz picks up the Carson vote in Iowa, and wins— and perhaps that may alter the landscape.
But, my guess aside, the point is I see no benefit in Cruz picking a fight with Trump.
Why not have two presidents, it will make up for having zero presidents the past two terms.
So why should Cruz be dogged by a couple bad votes but Trump be allowed to get a pass for decades of liberalism and liberalism in his current campaign platform? Does this seem equitable to you?
Did I misread something? I thought Cruz was at 16 in Q poll?
A very, very, very old maxim in politics is: If you strike the king, kill him.
What this means is there are no second chances, there is no retreat from the battle, and there is no way for it to end except that either you or the king ends up dead.
If Trump stays on top, then Cruz must attempt to take him down to win. If Cruz must make the attempt, then the attempt must be successful. Trump is a fantastic counter-puncher, and Cruz knows it. The best way to take down a counter-puncher is to use his reaction against him.
Cruz will likely set up an attack that will cause Trump to respond in a particular way. Then Cruz will make the big body blow he needs.
I have no doubt that Cruz is working on how it will play out. We have read plenty of stories about how he already mapped out debates before he entered the event. How he knew how his opponents would respond and he prepared his responses four to five levels deep.
These next 60 days will be very interesting to watch.
No need to play into RINO hands and go to attack. both are doing well and should continue to do well. No need for attacks.
Work together Cruz and Trump and take down the RINOs!
The Constitutional scholar should be satisfied with second place to the reality show celebrity?
LOL
I would like it if Cruz keeps his focus on his true enemy, the Obama/Clinton/GOPe axis.
Trump isn’t the enemy. They are.
“Trump be allowed to get a pass for ...liberalism in his current campaign platform?”
Can you cite me liberalism in his published platforms?
A vote can have inconceivable impact on the nation and the world, such as the Corker bill. Any idea of the bloodshed that will spawn? And he voted to enable the first trade bill, which in the hands of Obama, and any Republican, too, will completely finish off the nation.
Absolutely. Cruz is 44. His career is just beginning. He will be more than happy with second place. Sorry to disappoint you.
