The Los Angeles Times reports that the U.S. Air Force is using civilian defense contractors to fly military drones in combat theaters. The civilian drones pilots are used to fly missions that don't involve actual shooting, regulating their role to keeping an eye on enemy forces.

I think I recall when there was a lot of resistance to the US military being under foreign command, that only Americans could command American troops.
I may be imagining that. I've had some major head shots and I constantly question my memories these days, just in case, but I think that rule changed under Bush, the elder, or maybe Clinton?
I think they also used to say that rules were made to be broken and then, suddenly, the world changed. How unexpected.
