It is also called confirmation bias.

People who want more government power and control *want* to believe in things that validate their belief.

They *want* to believe in global warming.

I told one, once that the science was bad. He said “It does not really matter, only good comes from it.”

LOL. I read the headline of the thread, and thought “Money and power. Money and power. Huh. Who is even asking that question?”

Then I open the thread and see your response at #2...Money and power.

But I do understand it is a somewhat rhetorical question...
