Cruz has never hid his position on this.

I fail to see the problem.

The problem is his position.

Cruz has a blind dogmatic adherence to anything that sounds like free trade and/or opposing government interference and he doesn’t think it through.

Thus if Obama asks for fast track authority for free trade deals, Cruz is there for him, even if Cruz doesn’t know what’s in Obama’s trade deal. And even though existing so-called free trade deals have devastated our industries.

Ethanol is not much different. Cruz is against it because “government shouldn’t be picking winners and losers”. There is no strategic thought to our long term energy strategy. In Cruz’s mind the government shouldn’t even have a strategy. There is no strategic thought to our dependence on terrorist supporting states for fuel.

In short, Cruz doesn’t know when to use government power to help the free enterprise system of this country. He thinks government should never be involved.

Our founding fathers used protective tariffs for the first 180 years of this country’s existence and they worked well. In Cruz’s mind that’s unnecessary interference. Cruz would have us all reduced to Chinese labor wages, because that’s what a blind ideology like Cruz’s will result in.

Trump on the other hand understands that the free market must be protected from communist governments and unbalanced trade deals that kill American jobs.

The Ethanol program needs to be reviewed. Generally I’m against massive government support of unproven technologies. But I’m very much in favor of Government funding research in areas such as alternative fuels that could be critical to our future energy supply.

When the Ethanol program first rolled out it seemed nonsensical. They added 10% ethanol and our gas mileage dropped 10%. What was the point? But now the cars are better able to use the fuel and it it makes us more energy dependent and helps defund terrorist supporting states then maybe it’s a keeper. I don’t know. I just know that Cruz has a blind ideology and that’s not good.

And for the record, I’d rather have a leader with a blind ideology in favor of free trade as opposed to a blind ideology in favor of government planning. But I’d much rather have a leader that has a preference for free markets and the wisdom to keep other countries from destroying our free markets.
