So in the end, the longest-tenured of Albanyâs three men in a room turned out to be just another thief.
Not a petty thief, not by any means; Sheldon Silver of the Lower East Side had stuffed his jeans with at least $4 million â and that makes him distinctive by Albany standards: The capital cityâs gutter-grubbers traditionally settle for chump change.

Finally a prosecutor in NYS has said enough, former Senate majority leader is next to be convicted in his current trial.
Why is this BIG, because Hillary in effect has been doing this for decades - some prosecutor with guts needs to go after her, because she's guilty.
Hope it extends to the federal level. I'm sick of seeing politicians with $100K net worth's going to DC and coming out with a $100M net worth! Let's start with Harry Reid.
OH this is like years ago when the mafia was playing tick tack toe....grab your popcorn folks....Cuomo is next and then watch the ‘house of cards’ fall all down right into the Hudson River....
Wonder who is going to make a movie of this????
HOORAY Preet Bharara
His name was thrown out there for AG of the US. His integrity probably disqualified him for the position.
My opinion is that he is expendable.
Yes, he has done a remarkable job simply by doing a great job at his job....imagine.
“Silver in effect was found guilty of what many politicians do routinely, which is why this is a BIG breakthrough for justice in America. For decades pols have benefitted monetarily for in effect “influence peddling” and got away with it because “everyone does it””
If we went after and jailed all pols who are guilty of this kind of criminal activity we’d have to double the size of our prisons.

Harry Reid Investigated by Utah Prosecutor in Pay-to-Play Claim
I hope Rawlings has personal security .... from the link:
Justice officials closed their investigation in 2013 without filing charges. FBI investigators stayed on the case to help state attorneys who took it over.
"It is not up to the DOJ to tell me who can and who cannot be investigated and what evidence is relevant and material to a state case," Rawlings said.
The typical sort of ‘influence peddling’ involves campaign contribution for favorable legislation. This is legal as long as there is no over quid pro quo.
However, in Silver’s case, he received money personally from his law firm by directing NY cash grants to Dr Taub and getting referrals. That is a very different sort of thing.
They all do this and hide it as “consulting fees” - a bribe by a different name.
And I, for once, would be happy to pay those taxes.
In fact, sentences for those on the public dole/elected office/etc. should be 2x what the ‘Common Man’ would accrue and any/all pay/benefits re-couped, terminated and they fined....OUT THE WAZOO!
I’m sick of the multi-class structure; Elites one set of rules, the ‘favored’ class another, and the lowly Citizen gets the brunt.
