The first two FA-50 fighters take off from Korea Aerospace Industriesâ Sacheon facility on their ferry flight to the Philippines. The FA-50 is a combat variant of the T-50 jet trainer, and will be followed by another ten. (KAI photo)
Fitting successor to the F-5. Basically a weaponized trainer. The F-5 was the basis of the highly successful T-33 trainer, and the FA-50 is based on the Korea Aerospace Industries T-50 trainer.
Its better than nothing, but the most likely opposition will be Su-27 Su-30 - class.
Unless the Su-series opposition doesn’t have the range to cover Philippine airspace from southern China. I believe it does.
This is something like Boeing P-26 Peashooters vs Mitsubishi Zeroes. Which is a familiar situation for the Philippines.
