The bulk of the heroin traveling to the UK and other European countries is coming out of Iraq, while most of the poppies are grown in Afghanistan. What a waste of American lives.... Heroin is not particularly fungible. That is, just because you have a large amount of heroin, it doesn’t mean its fixed market will expand to buy it. It also requires an extensive retail network to get it to users, and to get the profits back to the suppliers.
