Why aren't Republican governors and state legislatures demanding accountability from administrators, professors and staff at state funded colleges and universities.

Because higher education is a sacred cow, and because it brings in wads of grant money (no where near as much as it spends).

True. I was being sarcastic. Have you made any attempt to influence these decisions?

I have personally been in higher education as a career. Being one of about 10% of campus conservatives, I have made many attempts to have an influence. If not for tenure and several million in grants, I would have been fired long ago. I have come to despise the place and find it a source of embarrassment, but I am a productive research scientist, not some hateful mental case in liberal arts.

Two things:
1) I have tried to reason with my elected representatives (all GOP) with no results. They are completely focused on serving the constituents who provide most of their campaign funding.
2) I accepted the invitation to teach a business course at a local University (I am a retired senior corporate executive). One semester of teaching two sessions was eye opening. The snowflakes are in control. I had several conversations with tenured faculty members who realize the situation is out of control but they will take no action. They are afraid of negative student evaluations so they structure the instruction (as well as the grading) to ensure high marks on student evaluations. As a result, high standards of performance to which I was held as an undergraduate and graduate school student decades ago seems to have gone away. These students are coddled and are in for a huge awakening when they go into the business world.
