Byron York: A brief theory of Trump's outrageousness
Washington Examiner ^

Posted on 11/25/2015 8:16:02 AM PST by springwater13

Then Trump got to the heart of the matter. "The word compromise is absolutely fine. But if you are going to compromise, ask for about three times more than you want. You understand? So when you compromise, you get what you want."

Perhaps deporting all illegal immigrants is the political version of asking for about three times more than you want.

Trump has repeated his deportation vow many times. But few have noted that when Trump rolled out his written immigration plan, posted on his campaign website, there was nothing about mass deportation. In addition to Trump's famous "beautiful wall," the plan had a lot of mainstream conservative proposals about securing the border and tightening interior enforcement.

The effect of Trump's deportation proposal was to pull the Republican immigration debate toward immigration and further right — that is, where Trump wanted it to go. When Trump made an actual written proposal, even an abbreviated campaign-style proposal, it was more measured.

Asking for about three times more than he wants helps Trump keep up his image with supporters. Perhaps the biggest part of Trump's appeal to those supporters is that they see him as strong, and other candidates as weak. Trump has to keep sounding strong to keep their support — even if the things he says scandalize others.

Being outrageous confounds the enemy, distracts them with fruitless pursuits and eventually shows their true intentions.

Trump is a spontaneous leader, if surrounded by bullies he will just taunt their manhood until the hidded “mastermind” gets all worked up and then....

WHAM!

You just got Trumped punk!

Can’t we just lose graciously so I can attend all the A List parties without having to fight back?

Pray America wakes

I had some respect for Byron York at one time but no more. None of the so called Republican Pundits have a clue, they write lies and are totally in the bag for the GOPe.

One of the best things about Trump is the total exposure of the MSM and their circle and corruption of Lies.

Reuters Poll: Trump 38 second place Cruz 11.7 - any intelligent questions?

What’s actually going on in the world with THIS administration in charge.

Now THAT’S what’s OUTRAGEOUS!

Remember that compromising with bad policy is like adding a little sewage to your drinking water.

Reuters Poll: Trump 38

That can’t be right, all the people in the know say that his ceiling is in the 20’s, and can’t possibly go any higher. Just this morning I read that 78 percent of republicans won’t vote for him, so his ceiling must be 22.

Yet, these same people say that someone like Bush who is at about 5 percent, can move up, and still beat Trump. I’m guessing that they “reason” that if Trump can go higher, he’d already be higher by now.

Obama simply has a different negotiating theory than Trump does. He figures, if he asks for only a third of what we require, we’ll be grateful if he delivers one half . . .

Bryon York, congratulations! You’ve made the discredited GOPe sycophant journalist list!

As pointed out by Trump’s own words, Donald is a serial exaggerator.

He’s also said that if you’d vote for him you’re stupid. Maybe you can forgive that as one of his exaggerations.

Yes, I saw the rally last night on the web, and this was such a hoot when Trump brought the guy on stage.

Byron York’s hairdo went out with Disco.

"Reuters Poll: Trump 38 second place Cruz 11.7 - any intelligent questions?"

Yes, here's one: Why do all the "poll cheerleaders" subscribe to the accuracy of these GOP nomination polls, when the polls for the general election universally show Trump as the weakest candidate against Hillary, getting his axx handed to him in a paper bag, and even Sad Sack Socialist Bernie beating him?

Why is that of no concern? Clearly you believe there to be significant accuracy in the polls. It's not as if Trump needs to get some name recognition.
