When a white man got beaten up by a crowd of black thugs, and Drudge put it on his front page, YouTube immediately took down the video because it had been reported as "disgusting" content. I'd suggest everyone report all Laquan MacDonald videos on YouTube similarly.
You'd be helping MacDonald's family out. Following a $5 million settlement with the city of Chicago, they urged the judge overseeing the video case to not release the video:
"Like any mother, she doesn't want to see the execution of her son over and over again on YouTube and television. It's graphic, it's disturbing, and it's crystal clear that Laquan was not attacking or lunging at any police officer," [lawyer] Neslund said.

I saw the video. It was apparent that the suspect didn’t “lunge” or such. Maybe a furtive movement the dash cam didn’t catch, yes; maybe he had a knife within Teuller Drill range, yes; what was seen could be fairly construed as facing someone who was yelling at him. I’ll defer to on-the-spot police judgement for whether the first 1-4 shots were necessary - though the video is unclear enough that an investigation, or even trial, is appropriate. No surprise the video was pulled, as it clearly depicts an actual killing (a la 21st century snuff film), does cause the family distress, and indubitably attracts a whole boatload of idiotic commentary & other behavior. At least we did get a chance (however short) to see it (though I’m sure it was copied and is now circulating), and can discern that while the first few shots were arguably proper, the remainder of 16 were clearly not.
So what’s the temperature in Chicago this morning? 451?
Charging this as first degree murder is a political, not a legal decision.
Another reasonable expectation is going to jail, which is what should have happened in this case.
There was no way he was going to jail before going to the hospital.
Brandishing a knife that close to a police officer is going to get you shot, and for all we know the first shot could have been an inevitably fatal one.
In any case, he had zero rational expectation of surviving the night.
He deliberately took his life into his own hands.
And if that’s true (political rather than legal) and the facts bear that out in court, all this is going to do is make the rioting that much worse once the case comes down.
They want to riot no matter what happens in the trial.
Well the next step is to see if it’s a jury trial or a bench trial.
Are they trying to time it so the trial is next summer?
I think they wanted to delay it past the summer. The prosecutor’s office said they wanted to prefer the charges later than this, but their hand was forced by the judge releasing the video.
That was the deal with the Chicago City Council?
