Did you know that the first Monday after Thanksgiving is a holiday in Pennsylvania? It's the first day of deer hunting season.
True story....my dad knew a guy who owned a machine shop up in NW PA. He had an employee there who was a particularly devout Catholic. He was upset that the shop was open and that they all had to work on Good Friday.
He went to my dad's friend who owned the company and lodged this complaint. The owner told him that he could see his way clear to adding one holiday to the schedule, but he did not think it right to designate Good Friday based soley on his wishes. So he put it to an employee vote.
Long story short, they've been closed the first day of deer season ever since.

My company is closed on Monday. About the only thing the union is good for. ;-)
