Terrorism Response Puts Belgium in a Harsh Light

BRUSSELS - A month before the Paris terrorist attacks, Mayor Francoise Schepmans of Molenbeek, a Brussels district long notorious as a haven for jihadists, received a list with the names and addresses of more than 80 people suspected as Islamic militants living in her area.

The list, based on information from Belgium's security apparatus, included two brothers who would take part in the bloodshed in France on Nov. 13, as well as the man suspected of being the architect of the terrorist plot, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, a Molenbeek resident who had left for Syria to fight for the Islamic State in early 2014.

"What was I supposed to do about them? It is not my job to track possible terrorists," Ms. Schepmans said in an interview. That, she added, "is the responsibility of the federal police."

The federal police service, for its part, reports to the interior minister, Jan Jambon, a Flemish nationalist who has doubts about whether Belgium - divided among French, Dutch and German speakers - should even exist as a single state.

Belgium has been a mess for centuries. To say they have three official languages is a bit of a simplification. On the Flemish side, they speak Brabantian, West Flemish, East Flemish, and Limburgish. Some of these dialects are not immediately understandable to speakers of standard Dutch. The French speakers have some holdouts in rural areas who still speak Picard, Champenois, or Walloon. The immigrants, of course, speak many varieties of Arabic or Berber.

Import muslims and get terrorism.

But they vote progressive/leftist/democrat so it is all OK

“On the Flemish side, they speak...Limburgish.”

I thought it was just us FReepers that spoke Limbaurgish. Perhaps there is some hope for them after all.

Belgium and the rest of Europe might not be overrun with refugees had Obama left 15,000 troops in Iraq and not funneled weapons and money to Syrian “moderates.”

Terrorism is in a muzzie’s DNA. IT would have been so much better if the West had never admitted any muzzies.
But no, we had to kiss their asses, build them prayer rooms and foot baths and even promote that vile cult in our high schools. The West gets what it deserves

I’m finding it hard to give a rat’s ass with the socialist left in control of Europe for YEARS now.

Europeans doing nothing about a real menace, even though they HAVE the tools. Typical.

This is why Europe is such an easy mark for the terrorists, they don’t do anything.

Expect more terrorist attacks to continue in Europe, until they finally (if ever) respond with the only thing terrorists understand - real, uncompromising force.

Until then, Europe is too busy apologizing.

Belgium has been a mess for centuries.

Yes, but they have produced some nice guns over the years.

The US is heading in the same direction; the descendants of those who made it great won’t breed, and they are basically handing the keys to the imports trafficked here to replace them. France is far to the right of the Obamunists; it is very telling that they don’t let Muslim schoolgirls wear headscarves in public schools.

A common language, as well as a common culture, is a great unidirectional.

Multiculturalism is a dangerous fraud.

Great post. The general attitude of Euroscum has been to “hate America” for years and to blame the US for EVERYTHING but in fact most of the world’s conflicts can be traced back to the whiney euros. But as they always do we will see them beg the US to save them.

It might be in Europa’s best interest to leave us alone. We have a nut in charge right now and he is doing everything he can to do away with God’s rights to the citizens.

It may not go well.

Do not mess with God.

I’m sorry if anybody took offense.

Mr. President, If you make MY GOD angry, I ask that MY GOD gives YOU the heat.

I do NOT support you.
