When Is Abortion Not a Sin against the Creator?

A recent story in the Washington Post left me agog! I mean really folks, how intentionally pointed and disjointed can a report that is really not a report be? Curious?

The Post states that “nearly 2 percent of Texas women say they tried to induce abortion.”

The headline is generated by a report entitled “Knowledge, Opinion and Experience Related to Abortion Self-Induction in Texas” prepared by the Texas Policy Evaluation Project. The report and the Post story concur that self-induced abortions in Texas have taken a dramatic turn since the abortion clinic regulation bill was passed and signed into law in 2013.

And now that the U. S. Supreme Court is set to hear arguments on the abortion clinic regulation bill, it is clear that the driving force behind the report is the upcoming Supreme Court hearing and the apoplexy this has caused the abortion cartel.

Reporting on the Supreme Court decision to hear the case, the Huffington Post said that if the court ruled in favor of the law, Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton would be eroded. The subtitle of the article reads: “The stakes for a woman's right to a lawful abortion have rarely been higher.” Oh my. Shudder! Obviously the abortion-mongering media is in a virtual uproar!

But the truth of matter is that the report’s findings are skewed and very easily twisted. Bradley Mattes, president and CEO of Life Issues Institute, reports that his analysis of the study finds that the statistics were manipulated in such a way that the claim that 240,000 Texas women have at some point attempted self-induced abortion simply does not stand up to scrutiny. According to Mattes, “Texas has almost 6 million women ages 18 to 49. Based on answers from just 779 of those women, researchers concluded that 100,000 to 240,000 Texas women have at some point tried to abort their babies themselves.”

A conclusion like that is an invitation to distortion for sure, especially as some of the women surveyed “thought” a friend had tried to self-abort. Others said they suspected that a friend had done so, and still others admitted that they themselves had attempted it. This is hardly scientific or reliable.

So, in essence, the study with the big media hype is suspect on many levels. But when it comes to the politics of abortion, we know that lies are fair game to an ideology that promotes killing babies prior to birth.

We know that abortion is a lie; the murder of an innocent person at any stage is wrong. It is a crime against God.

Pope Francis calls abortion a “sin against the Creator” and teaches, “The predominant school of thought sometimes leads to ‘false compassion’ which holds that it is a benefit to women to promote abortion.” He continues, “It is not licit to eliminate a human life to resolve a problem.”

The Holy Father rightly asks: “How can we genuinely teach the importance of concern for other vulnerable beings, however troublesome or inconvenient they may be, if we fail to protect a human embryo, even when its presence is uncomfortable and creates difficulties? . . . We forget that the inalienable worth of a human being transcends his or her degree of development.”

Exactly my point. Regardless of the laws, the regulations, the interviews, or the false statistics, every single abortion is illicit, an offense against God, and a sin.

When is abortion not a sin against the Creator? NEVER!

People learn from those around them what is right and wrong. Especially the very young can be influenced by those around them.

If you are 13 and living somewhere where you’ve seen older sisters, mother, aunts, friends, people all around you, have abortions, and then you get pregnant, it will be a serious option, a doable option for you. It doesn’t matter if people outside your circle say it is a sin. That word may be, at the time, meaningless to you.

To reduce abortions in a goal to have none, you still have to understand and have compassion for that little girl in her world. She will turn on you if you come wagging your holy finger. It breaks my heart too, but it’s the truth.

If you have a better solution, bring it forth. The women and men I see at abortion clinics praying for the women are NOT wagging their fingers.

But even if they were, are you saying to just let them do it since the girl will get mad if you wag your finger. If only one changes her mind, that is a life saved.

What is most striking is to hear from an adult man or woman who was almost aborted before they were born.

Those people are loving individuals with families of their own, daughters and sons, wives and husbands, who wouldn’t exist if their parents had chosen to abort them.

A fetus cannot talk however an adult can. We need to hear from more people like them.

I can’t think of the name of it. It is when the fertilized egg attaches itself to the fallopian tube wall. This is EXTREEMLY rare and would kill the mother and the unborn child.

It’s called a tubal pregnancy. I don’t actually consider it an abortion as there is no chance the baby would ever survive.

Here are a number of links on ectopic pregnancy, it’s not cut and dry as the abortionists would have you believe.

Actually, to simply consider the action is a sin.

“Matthew 15:19-20 ESV

“For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”
