College presidents defend importance of free speech

As debates about race and other social issues flare on campuses, college presidents are increasingly intervening to draw a line when cultural sensitivity conflicts with freedom of speech.

At schools including Yale, Williams College and Wesleyan University, leaders have in recent weeks taken steps to assert the importance of the free expression of ideas, even those that some might find objectionable.

School presidents reject critics' portrayals of today's college students as coddled and overprotected, but some say students arrive in need of help learning to engage others with contrary opinions. In their responses to barriers that go up around some discussions, they say they strive to keep conversations going, often reminding students that a commitment to free speech is part of building an inclusive campus.

LOL! Yeah, keep it up and the sjw/blm'rs will have you resigning and apologizing before you know it. How about this. Yeah, free speech is a constitutional right. But, when it becomes so disruptive and causes harm by "peaceful demonstration"(think library harassment) that normal ops cease, then it's time to take action. How about you expell the chief trouble makers or at least confine them to a "free speech" patch of real estate. You can always say what you want but, when you do, there may be consequences.

College presidents are ball-less like Dorkbama the Muslim. I will believe them when they kick out the low IQ marshmallow majors making all the trouble.

<<<< students arrive in need of help learning to engage others with contrary opinions. >>>>

Much like Obama arrived in the White Hut in 2009.

The world has moved on. This is a new and very frightening place that has to be confronted with resolve and spines of steel.

The leftists in all these bastions of safe spaces and trigger warnings live in another era that passed long ago. Because someone looks at you funny or disagrees is the childish tantrum of those whose bubble has burst. Their heroic illusions fostered by intellectual terrorism crumble when confronted by real and deadly warfare.

I would cancel their scholarships, kick them out, and ban them from ever returning to the campus.

Colleges and Universities are for higher learning, not BLM protests and sensitive little snowflakes.

The longer schools and businesses cave to these obamaites, the worse it will become. Giving in to spoiled children does not “un-spoil” them, and only sets their sites on their next desire and sets the stage for continued tantrums.
