Poll: Trump retakes lead, Cruz surges in IA; Rubio second in NH

Donald Trump has returned to the lead in Iowa while Ted Cruz has now surged past Ben Carson into second place. Carson has slipped from a first-place tie into third.

While Iowa's Republicans generally feel Trump is ready to be commander-in-chief, Cruz scores even better on this measure, boosted by support from very conservative and Tea Party Iowans who feel he is ready to assume the post. That's more than say so about Trump, Carson, Rubio and Jeb Bush.

Since last month, Ted Cruz has gained ground -- and Ben Carson has lost ground -- among some key voting groups in Iowa: evangelicals, Tea Party supporters, those who are very conservative and older voters. And while Trump still leads among some of these groups, it's Cruz who is ahead among the very conservative, and Trump leads Cruz by just two points among evangelical voters.

Cruz's move has come directly at the expense of Carson, as nearly one-quarter of his voters switched.

some on the board predicted that cruz would start to surge at some point. They were right. Cruise or trump. I’ll take either one.

It must be worse for cBS since it’s a large 6.2% MOE. No doubt it does not go the other way against Trump. It’s more like 36% for Trump in Iowa.

Right. As if he was actually ever out of the lead.

I think it’s great how Americans are going to be able to select their nominee this time while the dumbass DemocRATS are stuck with Huma Weiner’s BFF, Hillary Rodham Clinton whether they like it or not.

It’s her turn. Does this remind you of Bob Dole and John McCain?

It sure does. The DemocRATS have picked up one of the GOPe’s little tricks. It may be dumb but the old dinosaur politicians like Clinton like it.

Hmmmm?
Add up all the candidates under Rubio and you equal Trumps number. Top three are outsiders !

A Cruz upset, followed by a Trump second...then a Trump victory in NH?

That would be awesome.

What if it became a dignified, but tough, two-man race....then a handshake, and a ticket!

WOW!

Right. They treat it like its a close horse race

The press will not have fun adjusting to this paradigm shift in reporting. The only person on the five that has anything to say is guilfoyle. She doesn’t have any problem talking about trump.

Anyone else in jornalism is in trouble. They won’t know what to talk about

‘Trump retakes lead’. Who do they think they’re fooling?

Any improvement by Cruz is about as meaningful as Carson or Rubio. At the end of the day only Trump has shown ability to win and this year winner wins over martyr.

If it was anybody but Trump in the lead it would be Race over, line up behind the front runner and consolidate support. Would any other candidates and pacs line up to dethrone Bush or Rubio? No chance. Trump and Americans are onto something Yuge!

Evangelicals, Tea Partiers and the strongly conservative have no business voting for anyone but Cruz. He is by far the most conservative, most principled and most trustworthy candidate.

70% of the Iowa Republican vote is going to the anti-GOPe candidates.

I predict that Carson will continue to fade and Cruz will continue to surge. As the vote gets closer there will be fewer protest votes for Paul and Huckabee, most going to Cruz and the GOPe will split up just a few percentage of the remaining votes. After Iowa it will bed Cruz and Trump in position for the primaries. I also predict that it will get bloody on Free Republic as Trump’s early lead is threatened by Cruz.

Somebody tell me where I’m wrong here. I don’t think Cruz can survive the attacks. Not even sure Trump can who has celebrity, therefore more free press, knowledge of how the other side works, and more $ than others. They’re coming at him from all sides.

This morning Fox & Friends gave Rubio a huge chunk of time with peppered ads. I think that’s who they want next and though I wouldn’t want it, I think Rubio would take Cruz. It’s not a matter of issues but likability and the right words.

Like I said, tell me where I’m off but please, on the things I mentioned.
