Not sure about this yet. The Republican Lt Governor won by an equal margin over the Dem. I think it was all about Vitter.
Yup. Edwards is a Blue Dog Democrat.
That’s why he put the race away.
In the South, people would vote for a Blue Dog before they would vote for a Republican.
Maybe the next the GOP will get its act together.
He won 57% of the vote. Large number ticket splitting.
“Basically, in Louisiana, the lieutenant governor is the stateâs ambassador of tourism, which is an $11 million industry in Louisiana. The office oversees state parks, museums and tourism promotion through the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.”

At least on radio, Vitter ran a terrible campaign and Edwards’ campaign was silken. Vitter ran heavy handed, crass, and clearly ineffective attack ads. Edwards ran calm, reassuring schmooze ads, and more of them.
Hard to live down the whoremongering around here too. He got some last minute traction with the Syrian refugee placement, but his own lassitude, negativity, and some burden he had to carry from Jindal’s unpopularity sunk him.
This election cycle is very low energy, with very, very few people taking any pride in or boosting their candidates. I’ve seen only four bumper stickers this year, one for Hillary and THREE for SANDERS!
Weird cycle.

About how I see it.
The Lt. Gov. and State Attorney General races went to the GOP candidate by about the
same percentage that Vitter lost by. Thus in statewide races Vitter was the polar
opposite of the other two races. Sounds like a candidate problem rather than a blue
dog dem problem.
I held my nose as I voted for Vitter....
Yup. Vitter's campaign sucked. He should have easily defeated John 'Bel' Edwards the leftist faux conservative born with a silver spoon in his mouth; the son of a former corrupt governor. Like Mary Landrieu, Edwards should have been handily defeated; however, there was no excitement there, no attack, no consistent differentiation espoused by Vitter. As Trump would say, Vitter was low energy, very low energy
