13-year-old homeschooler shoots, kills felon during home invasion

Two men with extensive criminal backgrounds attempted to break in to a home in Ladson, South Carolina in the middle of the day last week.

They were greeted by an unlikely hero: a 13-year-old, who takes public classes online at home.

When the alleged burglars attempted to enter the property, the boy killed one of them and scared off the other. One of the burglar's guns was identified as a Colt .45, and the weapon the boy used was unreported — except that the gun belongs to his mother, who owns it for self-defense.

The newspaper is not identifying any family members because the boy is a minor.

I will pray for him. At thirteen, a terrible ordeal to go through. I’m glad he did what he had to, and survived. I’m proud of his resolve.

Kudos to the kid. Three bullet holes in the dead perp and more bullet holes in their vehicle. That boy really knows how to shoot.

Seriously, some South Carolinians should take up a collection for a scholarship for that boy so that he can go to a good private college.
