LOL - good one... 'immigrant Germans' in WWII were called 'spies' and we shot or imprisoned them. (WWII was before the time of 'the Great Stupidity' - ushered in by democrats in 2008)
One of my uncles by marriage was a German American, born in this country. He was a WWI vet and medic in battles in France.
After the war and when the German economy tanked, his parents and other German Americans brought over family members from Germany.
Some were good people and some were or became Nazis. This uncle turned these nazis into the FBI after we declared war on Germany/Japan. The men were arrested
The arrested men were put into federal prisons, and the females were put into former old hospitals with guards at the gates.
After the war was over, the Nazi men were sent back to Germany. Some of the women were given the option to stay. Many of those women stayed here.
