Two things seem to be happening, one is that the Fed's talking a lot about raising rates next month so they can limit inflation, and the other is that we got deflation.  Yeah, I know most freepers say we got infation and anyone who doesn't say the same is a bad guy, (re Ted Cruz is freaked out about inflation. But there has been absolutely none for a year) but that PCE the article mentions says overall prices throughout the economy have been falling --not low inflation, deflation-- for two months now:

--and this latest thing w/ the PPI has been going on even longer, starting to get as bad as it was in '08:

An honest report would call this DEFLATION.

It’s a bifurcated market.

Items required to live: food, shelter, etc have and are seeing price increases - look at the grocery ads and bills for proof, if the price isn’t up then the size is down.

Items not required to live are seeing deflation as you indicate as people are less able to afford things and limit their purchases to a very select set of items.

as it did six months ago, as I recently discovered:
