Once again, the huge battle in the Senate that Cruz and Sessions led, alerted the public to the Gang of 8 bill. That was really the beginning of Cruz’s working relationship with House Conservatives. Boehner was on board with the cheap labor express until the public outcry and melting the phone lines to Congress applied enough pressure to stop the bill.
Both Rush and Levin credit Cruz with the defeat of the Gang of 8.
I listen to Rush every day and I know he likes Cruz but will not endorse him until he wins the primary. Rush and Levin are certainly stoking the fire for him but he did not stop the Amnesty bill. He did speak out publicly for the House to stop it, but the House alone stopped it.
If anyone thinks the defeat of Eric Cantor didn't put the kibosh on amnesty then they are immature thinkers because if he hadn't Boehner would have rammed through the amnesty bill in the lame duck session just like he did the funding of the residents spending spree.
