Unfortunately he appears to be the best choice for France. The others in his party are to his left, and then there’s Le Pen. Most of FR will likely be crowing for Le Pen. I’ll say she’s a socialist, they’ll say “who cares”.

Very few here will be for Sarkozy. Le Pen will get support if only because the situation with immigration has become utterly untenable. If that isn’t dealt with decisively, all the other issues aren’t going to matter.
Regardless of time frame, it boils down to the terror attacks happening because of Muslims being allowed into France.
As fieldmarshaldj noted, the French might desperately vote for Le Pen because her party is the only one serious about stopping Islamic immigration. I'm sure Sarko will give lip service to the issue but the voters know as well as I do that it means nothing, terrorist attack or otherwise, he doesn't have the testicles to take the necessary steps to immediately halt it.
France really has a pitiful set of opinions though. The fact "National Front" are wrong on everything else and a bunch of closet neo-NAZIs being falsely marketed as "right-wing" is disturbing.
Neo-nazi fascists vs. Islamofacists should make an interesting fight though. Weird to think that the Frenchies will end up with fascism no matter what. It's like imagining a Canadian election between two groups of hardened street gangs (skinheads vs. militant black power activists) or something.
And then there's the "official" Socialists in France, I heard Hollande say that retribution against the terrorists will be "swift" and "ruthless" blah blah blah. I'll believe it when I see it. Being threatened by him is like being threatened by the Snuggles bear.
You need to get a few of your buddies and their buddies together to at least “make the arrivals feel welcome” and to send a not so subtle message that they are being watched!

Polls show she would already have a good chance to beat Hollandise sauce, but she trails Sarko, I have have trouble seeing her beat him. I think if it’s her and Sarko the left will support him, even though they have more in common with her, like when her daddy ran against Chirac though not by such a wide margin.
Top 2 runoff. Polls so far make it seem unlikely Sarko is gonna be the one to miss the runoff.

French politics has always sucked. Their revolution was insanity, I can’t believe people like Thomas Jefferson supported it. Napoleon is looking pretty good.
