GOP frontrunner Donald Trump lambasted the permanent political class for supporting the Trans-Pacific Partnership free-trade deal, in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News ahead of the next debate.
âThe deal is insanity,â he said. âThat deal should not be supported and it should not be allowed to happen.â
The 5,544-page deal is far too long to be understood, said Trump. âNobody understands it,â he said. The âObamatradeâ deal is longer than Obamacare plus the 2013 amnesty bill, authored by 2016 candidate Sen. Marco Rubio and Democratic leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
âThe deal is so bad because of the fact they donât cover currency manipulation,â Trump added. âItâs the number-one weapon used by foreign countries to hurt the United States and take away jobs.â
He also hit the deal as a giveaway to China. âWe are giving away what ultimately is going to be a back door for China,â he said. âChina will take advantage of itâall the weak points in it, more than anybody else,â said Trump, who has previously criticized Chinaâs manipulation of currency prices. China is not part of the TPP deal, but is widely expected to join in the next few years.
Rubio, Trumpâs chief rival from the Washington establishment, has publicly backed the TPP deal multiple times throughout the yearâin the Wall Street Journal and in a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations, where he called it a âpillarâ of his desired presidency.
But now Rubioâs team says heâs undecided about the unpopular deal.

I like the way Trump talks. umh humgh.
“I like the way Trump talks.”
Me too. Not bs with Trump.
crickets .....
YEAH, and Rubio, a great supporter of TPP, now has gone all wobbly on it, conventionally. I don’t trust Mr. Glib of Tongue any farther than I could throw him (although he is rather tiny, lol).
As a side note to this thread, please consider the following. Noting that I will vote for Trump if nominated for president, if constitutionally low-information Trump was actually up to speed with how the federal government is supposed to work according to the Constitution, then he would be able to point out the following concerning the Obama Administrations insane free trade deal.
One of the main reasons that patriots are always fearing what lawless Obama will do next is this imo. In this example, regardless that the Founding States gave the Senate the constitutional authority to reject bad trade deals with foreign countries, we now know that the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification, RINO-controlled Senate will probably not do its job to protect the states, in this case by rejecting what deal expert Trump has indicated is a very bad trade deal by Obama.
The ill-conceived 17th Amendment needs to disappear, and corrupt senators who approve the bad trade deals of lawless presidents along with it.
John Campbell, sub for Hewitt today talked about Trumps bad debate because Paul disagreed with Trump on TPP. The GOPe is in blue panic when they use Rand Paul to go after Trump. It is Campbell that doesn’t know that what Trump said related to TPP. was that China would use the agreement even though they are not an initial signatory.
Rubio, a Republican presidential candidate, was the deciding vote necessary for the U.S. Senate to clear the final 60-vote threshold and eventually, later this week, send to President Barack Obamaâs desk the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) bill that would fast-track at least three highly secretive trade deals that Obama has been negotiating for years.

Didn’t know this factoid about Rubio’s part in this trade deal. Thanks for the info.
They were all paid for their votes. Rubio got $3.9 million. McConnel got a lot more... and so did the rest of the Republicans who voted for that deal.
