College Alumni Raise Doubts About Bernie Sanders Campaign Photo
TIME ^ | November 12, 2015 | Sam Frizell

At a televised Democratic candidate forum Friday, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow showed Bernie Sanders a black-and-white photo of a man with his face turned away from the camera speaking before a civil rights protest. 'This is you in 1962,' Maddow said to the Vermont senator.

'Who is that handsome young guy with the dark hair?' joked Sanders. The audience laughed.

There was just one problem: Four University of Chicago alumni who went to school with Sanders tell TIME they believe that the dramatic photo of Sanders, which his campaign has featured on its website and in a promotional video, is not in fact a photograph of Sanders. An archivist at the University of Chicago agreed in January that Sanders was not the speaker in the photo, though the school's official decision on the man's identity is still pending.

The alumni say the man in the photo is actually Bruce Rappaport, a fellow student activist with a similar haircut, glasses and stature, who died in 2006.

This can’t be true. There must be a mistake. A communist would never try to deceive. They are pure as the driven snow.

If they dig through this old loon’s trash and they completely ignored Obama, that is total rubbish. Socialists should pick up their berets and beads and march on Washington in protest.

Too tall to be Bernie. Looks more like Howard Stern, but Howard probably wasn’t born yet.

I thought Sanders was active in the Civil Rights movement in ‘63 and ‘64... denizen of the CORE Freedom House on Chicago’s South Side and a member of SNCC (Friends of SNCC) and some weird Socialist Organization that met downtown... Only Sanders knows...

According to Sanders’ wiki page, he’s only 5’8” tall. This guy is at least 6’ tall. No way that’s Sanders. Not only that, but the guy is wearing what appear to be at least size 12 shoes compared to many of those around him. His hands are huge, too. This guy has to be at least 6’2 or better.
