I can’t see any reason to doubt the statistics but I haven’t checked them myself. The claim of an outright ban is wrong, but handgun crime is up according to other things I have heard. Some of it, at least, is down to laws concerning ammunition supply being enforced that didn’t use to be as I understand it. Others is more criminals carrying guns especially those involved in the ‘Ice’ trade (crystal meth) which is another growth area.
