NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) â Facebook is supposed to be a place to connect with friends, but itâs also a platform to start fights.
In two recent cases involving teenagers, fights started online and ended in murder.

In a search warrant obtained by News 2, it reads one of Rowâneshiaâs friends was fighting online with a 20-year-old and âthe two females exchanged dialogue on Facebook regarding the fight.â
When the two girls planned to meet up, Rowâneshia was among several friends who were there.
Shots were fired and two girls were hit. Rowâneshia was killed.
âShe wasnât even going to fight,â her mother Michelle Overton told News 2. âShe was just going to support her friends.â
The circumstances are eerily similar to the murder of 14-year-old Treyonta Burleson.
Burlesonâs alleged murderer was in court for her preliminary hearing Tuesday and we heard from a witness who said Treyontaâs friends were fighting with 18-year-old Antwana Smith on Facebook.

She said Smith brought a gun to where the group of girls was hanging out and fired shots toward them.
Treyonta, who wasnât directly involved, was killed.
Overton says she went to Treyontaâs candlelight vigil last week to show her support. She says she knows what her mother is going through.
âLives are being taken over a fight,â Overton said, âover Facebook.â
There have been no charges in Rowâneshia Overtonâs case. If you have any information that can help police, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 615-74-CRIME.
Ban Facebook!
Social media is poisonous and reflects the general lack of personal values. Millions of unedykated morons spewming worthless opinions to no net benefit. Instead you just get the wide dissemination of even more stupid uninformed ideas.
B the " ' " silent?
Facebook is Evil.
Right now something like 60% of divorce petitions specifically mention Facebook.
Just another day in the hood where the ghetto culture promotes violence.
lol!!
what do they do?
drop scrabble letters onto the floor and then that’s the name?
they will NEVER adapt, never join mainstream america and will always be left behind until the nonsense stops.
happy Kwanzaa.
People are evil. Facebook is an inanimate computer program.
Row'Neshia Overton
Treyonta Burleson
“they will NEVER adapt, never join mainstream america”
They don’t need to, mainstream America is rapidly moving down to their level.
Teen Hijinks?
There was supposedly someone with a name like La-a where the "-" was NOT silent. The National Inquirer needs to provide a good write up so I don't embarrass myself.
Let me guess. 2 more Scrabble board names.
Row’neshia and Treyonta...that’s really all I needed to know.
yeah, i forgot.
i live on staten island and when I hear the Italian kids blasting rap, I want to pull them over and pummel them.
I guess i was no better, listened to latin freestyle in my teens and early 20s. But at least it was music.
Years ago, murders resulted from fights started over the U.S. Mail, I’m sure.
More recently, from fights started over Bell telephone lines.
I find it ironic that the culture that makes up names, words, phrases, and gutter language is quickly becoming “mainstream”.
I’ve met plenty of white trash with similar scrabbled names.
The culture has gone totally depraved!
âShe was like fighting is dead,â the girl testified. âI ainât fighting no more. It ainât no more fighting, I am shooting. I am popping people.â
Antwana? Named after her father?

Facebook doesn’t kill people..people kill people...
