Our family in Ohio is not that fond of Kasich. Is he really popular there?
Popular would be the wrong word. He’s competent and uncontroversial, thus making him far superior to anyone the Democrats can offer. So he’s like another Republican governor we had, George Voinovich ... good mayor, decent governor, mildly to profoundly embarrassing as a senator. The higher these types rise the more obvious their flaws become. He absolutely isn’t qualified to be running for president and his drawing power to win Ohio in the general next year, at either end of the ticket, is questionable at best. But I’d not be at all surprised if the GOPe dream ticket is Bush / Kasich since they probably think that would guarantee them Florida and Ohio, the result in 2000 redux.
