A Chick-fil-A restaurant in Georgia is honoring veterans and active-duty service members with a âMissing Man Table.â
Store manager Alex Korchan told WSB-TV the table features a folded American flag, a place setting for the veteran, and a letter titled âMissing Man Table.â The letter is similar to notes left on other âMissing Manâ tables.
âThis table is reserved to honor our missing comrades in arms. The tablecloth is white â symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call of duty. The single red rose, displayed in a vase, reminds us of the life of each of the missing and their loved ones and friends of these Americans who keep the faith, awaiting answers. The vase is tied with a red ribbon, symbol of our continued determination to account for our missing. A pinch of salt symbolizes the tears endured by those missing and their families who seek answers. The Bible represents the strength gained through faith to sustain those lost from our country, founded as one nation under God. The glass is inverted â to symbolize their inability to share this eveningâs toast. The chair is empty â they are missing.â
sniff....
Very touching. Thank you.
The Chick-fil-A restaurant closest to my home ALWAYS has a big line at the two drive-thru lanes, and the parking lot is always full. Perhaps this is why. The American Dream is strong with these people.
And I don’t necessarily disagree, but I did think the display will give a lot of people a tangible reminder of the debt we owe all veterans, living and deceased.
IMO, the day isn’t important. The gesture is.
It should stay there year round, IMO.
hmmm...lunch at chik-fil-a today
Nearest one is 25 miles away....really suks!!
Wonder if they deliver....?
Hmm. Looks like a visit to Chick Fil A is in order today.
Yes, living and deceased. But I have been informed that present day Military do not want to be celebrated on this day.....it is for the Veterans.
God Bless the USAF.

I agree completely. Veterans Day is for the living; Memorial Day is for the dead.
That is incredibly impressive, wow!
I appreciate the sentiment that Chik-fil-A is demonstrating. However, this further perpetuates the erroneous thinking that Veteran’s Day is for the dead. Veteran’s Day is for the living, the dead are honored by their own, special day, Memorial Day.

For Vietnam era veterans, take time today to look up “Vietnam Vets Prayer” attributed to Lew Poorman in 2000
A great reminder as well.
Just FYI.
According to the National League of POW/MIA families, as of October 25, 2014-there were/are still 1639 still listed as POW/MIA.
Even after all these years, some (many?) may still be alive so I appreciate this effort!
I’m going to grab a copy of my DD-214 and head out for lunch later this morning. Most locations are serving food free to vets and active duty military.
