But, I wouldn't be surprised. My sense has always been, Cruz would be tougher on illegal immigration than any other candidate, including Trump.

Cruz is a conservative ideologue, every bit as rabid as Obama is to communism. He will use the Executive as Obama did,only in a fashion even more conservative than Reagan.

I doubt any of us can complain about your statement, but you need differentiate him as being an exectutive bound by the limits of the U.S. Constitution. That is very different from Obama or the rest of them.
