Agreed. Too many cops out of control, as there are many incidents of unwarranted killings of citizens by rookie cops. Too aggressive, too quick to shoot to kill. Bad training or lack thereof.
Not always the case. There was an incident some five blocks from my home in August, here in South San Francisco. A guy was brandishing a shotgun outside a middle school (the school my kids had attended long ago). Cop showed up, told him to put down the weapon. Guy pointed the shotgun at the cop, and the cop shot him in the leg and got him to drop the shotgun. Turns out the guy had suicidal thoughts and was looking for death by cops. Although the guy had several serious charges against him, last week it was reported that he won't do time, but is receiving counseling and will be on probation. A bad situation defused by a seasoned police sergeant.
That was scary close! Good defense work by the officer in that case. In this one, I have to wonder what threat the 6-yo kid buckled in the front seat posed to the officers. Sad case all around - many lives affected here.
