It has also been adapted for stage several times over the years.
Think the Director is a confused puppy. His comments are idiotic on their face. If one looks at the fuller context of what is going on in our times, they go beyond the idiotic to the palpably insane.

Someone approached this filmmaker the other day to ask his opinion about the recent attacks in Paris. They asked him if he was planning to do something on social media or make some sort of statement about the events. He just stared at the person. They said, “Don’t you spend a lot of time in France?” He said, “Yes.” They said, “Well, if you can open your mouth and call white American cops murderers, why can’t you open your mouth and do the same when it comes to Islamic terrorists?” He just glared at the person for a couple of seconds. Then he said, “Shut up,” and walked away.
