GMTA!!
Well, I dunno. I think if 0bama stood Kerry, Hillary, Valerie Jarrett, Eric Holder, Rahm Emanuel, Van Jones, and Josh Earnest up against the wall I might find a kind word or two to say about him.

Cruz Gets It.
Weakly subStandard never will.
Did John Semmens write this as semi-satire?
It looks like his talented writing.
But Captain Kirk wasn’t
The Republic condoned or turned a blind eye towards slavery.
See Tatooine and a kid called Anakin.
Alderaan had WMDs, Palpatine was keeping us safe.
It was Lucas’s baby.
Yet “Star Wars” has been a very big money maker.
But also can be taken back. Time to take America back!
I’ll buy that.
Clearly, Ted Cruz doesn’t know that when George Lucas wrote the Star Wars films, he was specifically gunning (pun not intended) to paint America in a horrible light, and that he intended the Rebel Alliance to be Vietcong members (it’s all on record, and if Lucas’ statements aren’t enough [for understandable reasons since he doesn’t seem to keep track of his own statements], the fact that an associate of his confirmed it as well should settle all doubts). If anyone’s totalitarian, it’s the Rebel Alliance knowing their true real life counterparts. A shame I didn’t realize this sooner, back when I was naïve enough to think the Rebels were like the American Minutemen in our War of Independence, or even the French Resistance during World War II. I tried to email Cruz notifying him of this, but I don’t think I ever got a response back from him.
Find it hard to believe Alderaan lacks weapons when they are gunrunning for the Rebel Alliance, not to mention the guns on Leia’s cruiser definitely fired on a Star Destroyer.
Besides, if the novelization’s to be believed, Alderaan had a military-grade planetary shield (not that it did much good against the Death Star), so I doubt most people would buy the claim that Alderaan had no weapons (if they had military-grade planetary shields, they obviously would have access to military-grade weapons, since there’s no point to having that kind of shielding yet NOT having weapons of any kind). In fact, even in the film, we briefly see a shield effect when the superlaser hits Alderaan. So no, it definitely isn’t a “gun free zone.”
I get what they are trying to convey, as a joke on how gun-free zones do not work out well at all, but I really think they should have used a far different method to convey the joke so it doesn’t fall apart.
